ZR2 Blazer

You all know I was looking at the s10 ZR2 but it was a corker and the seating situation wasn't that great as I need to be able to take 3 kids on occassion. So I've been looking at the Blazers I found one but after reading your guys info on the ZR2 pickups I realized it wasn't real as the flares were just little dinky things. I have found a Black 2004 ZR2 blazer seems to be fully loaded except leather roof rack rear tire holder both things I wanted .What do I look for with one of these ?? Same as the s10 pickup stamps in wheel well and glovebox or is there something else that I should be looking for. It has about 70000 miles on it they want $7000 and I would assume that the fuel mileage would be about the same 17-20 MPG Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: ZR2 Blazer

2-doors never had a leather option
I have never seen one without a rack?
And the swing away tire carrier was an option, but most have it.

The back seat only sits two people. So if it's just you and the 3 kids, it's fine, but if you have another adult with you, there's no room.

I'd really like to see a picture of that. The only place to put them is on the floor which leaves next to no room for anything else.

From Wikipedia...I'll stand by my assertion that all ZR2 Blazer spares were mounted outside.

[edit] ZR2 Facts
Not all S-Series 4WD's are ZR2's, and not all ZR2's are 4WD's.
The ZR2 option was never offered with any of the Crew Cab, 4-Door Blazer, or GMC Jimmy (USA) models. [2]
All ZR2 Pickups and Blazers were manufactured with a Vortec 4.3L 6 Cylinder engine.
The S10 ZR2, GMC Highrider, and many Blazer ZR2's feature Insta-Trac (three-button) 4WD. The Blazer ZR2 was also offered with the option of Auto-Trac (four-button) 4WD.
Being that the ZR2 featured a full size spare tire and the Blazer lacked considerable space both underneath and inside the cab; an exterior mount was created for the ZR2 Blazers. The mount was placed at the rear of the vehicle overlapping the tailgate and rear glass, this created a severe blindspot. To remedy the situation a small company manufactured a lowering kit that would relocate the mount a few inches down.

Well...maybe, but so far you've done nothing to prove your theory. I don't have a tire mounted on my spare to test for fit right now. As for the "reg" 4X4, I'll keep an eye out for one with the outside carrier, although I don't see the point of them having one as the spare fits under the vehicle....unless you're thinking of 1st gens.

Re: ZR2 Blazer

Because two doors look more sporty and since it cant go under due to the center rear gas tank. And also the smaller cargo area does get cramped with the tire inside.

Make sure its a 4X4... sounds funny but some people don't remember to check.

I get about 15mpg

As Beedle said some ZR2's don't have a tire carrier. That was a deal breaker on one Z I drove to see because it didn't have a tire carrier.

Re: ZR2 Blazer

Marketing reason... they know people in the Carolinas, Florida, California etc don't need 4wd and most people buy vehicles for the look. So to cater to a different segment of the market they offered a 4wd looking vehicle for the price of a 2wd SUV to try to increase sales of their SUV/Truck sales.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
From the above auction notice what is missing in this picture:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Zr2-p...1%7C240%3A1318
Same thing that is missing in this one....

Neither dealer ever states it is a 4WD so they are not lying, however neither says that it is a RWD or 2wd SUV.
