What tires are you running?
Well I'm going to be buying new tires within the next 2 weeks or so and I was wanting to see what kind of tires you guys are running. I want a mud terrain or an aggressive all terrain. When I go offroad it's mostly rocks with quite a bit of mud. They are going on a s10 zr2 and I'm just staying with 31x10.50's. Thanks for the help.

Re: What tires are you running?
i have 32x10.5 BFG M/T's that came on the JK Rubicons... they are a little different than the normal KM's
i love them, very good on rocks if you air down to about 15psi. work well in mud too... havn't gotten stuck yet where my tires can actually touch the ground... =D |

Re: What tires are you running?
Yea I'm thinking about the KM2's but they're pretty expensive. I'm also liking the Super Swamper Trxus MT's but if I could find a cheaper off brand mud terrain that would be nice. How much of a difference does siping make? I've never had tires that weren't siped.

Re: What tires are you running?
Yea I like those too. They got 2nd place in Petersens 4Wheel and Offroad small mud terrain test. I found a new set of KM2s on ebay for 665 free shipping and that's the cheapest I've found them. What about the Pro Comp XTerrains? Or should I stay away from directional tires for a dd?

Re: What tires are you running?
BFG ATKOs suck in muddy terrain. The mud terrains are pretty good. Most people around here run Coopers. Either Discoverer ST or Discoverer STT. Im gonna run the ST on mine when I replace my Bridgestone Dueler ATs.

Re: What tires are you running?
the BFG KM's are very good in mud, slef clean well.
my brother ran KO's 33x12.5 for a long time doing nothing but mudding and they worked well... never got stuck and went through a ton of deep deep crap down in south texas where there is no bottom at all, you just sink and sink. pulled up to a jeep stuck up the middle of her doors. slid off the road and tried to get out for an hour or forward and reverse... very muddy. |

Re: What tires are you running?
Well, I never had good luck with them. I had them on a 96 3/4 ton and it was almost like I would get stuck on pavement if it was wet enough. I bought some Uniroyal Laredos that did better in most situations and they were an all season tire. I guess they have improved in the last 6 years. They just didnt seem to clean out as well as some tires Ive had. However, I was in South East Texas and its like gumbo down there. Not much gravel and slicker than greased snot.

Re: What tires are you running?
I ran super swampers on my old z, they were great..just a little to noisy on the highway. I plan on running Kumho venture M/t or Goodyear wrangle M/t's on my blazer when I buy the next set...got a crappy set of firestone a/t on it now that were on there when i bought it.

Re: What tires are you running?
I just picked up a set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S's. A friend of mine has been running the older AT-II's on his, with great winter traction, and decent mud clearing. The A/T-S has some improvements over the older AT-II, so I'm excited to see how much better they do. It snowed two days ago, there's 4-6 inches in the upper mountains (more to come this weekend!!), I may have to go muddy the pristine white.

Re: What tires are you running?
So I looked at the Authority's at Walmart and they are nice for an all-terrain. Does anybody know if the price on the sign includes mount and balance? If it does then those are the one's I'm going with because they are only $130 at the local Walmart. They look like they would be fairly quiet on the street too. Also does anybody have a pic of them on a ZR2 or at least some experience with them?

Re: What tires are you running?
I agree with Pitboss... on there that they don't look as good mounted. I do like the sidewall on those duratracs though. I know it seems like I'm bouncing around a lot between different tires but that is the point of the forum. You guys are giving some great input, keep it coming so I can figure out what I want. The main reason I don't want the BFG A/T's is because they came factory on some and everyone has them. I know it sounds stupid but I like to be different and it's hard when you drive an s10.

I am running the cooper st's and i love the tire BUT they make alot of nose on the road around 55 mph. I can't stand driving that speed it drives you nuts.

Re: What tires are you running?
Well I found a set of 32x12.50's that we have laying around. They're Remington Mud Brutes. I'm going to mount one and see how much clearance I need on the front. I think I will crank my t-bars, get it realigned, and just drive it for a while if they fit. I think they will rub the sway bar really bad though because my 31 all-terrains rub it pretty good.

Re: What tires are you running?
Will I HAVE to cut the flares? If so then I'm not running them. I can't talk myself, or my dad into cutting up flares that cost over $200 each! I guess I'll just save a little more money and buy new tires. I think since my birthday is in a month I can talk my mom and dad into helping me pay for them.

Re: What tires are you running?
hmmmm... if you have stock rims they might fit. you will be fine in the rear for sure.
i have rims with 4" of backspacing and had to trim a bit but nothing bad. mainly the body. un bolt the inner wheel well, pull it forward and go to town cutting everything pretty much, lol. put the well back, beat it with a hammer and get a sheet metal screw to hold it back and your done, then trim up the plastic flare if you have to. easy lol |

Re: What tires are you running?
It's in the zr2 section but it's fine I'm not one to flip out over things like that I don't always notice the section either. I do appreciate the info though since my brother does need new tires for the 20's on his Silverado!

Re: What tires are you running?
Yea money's getting tight and it's coming up on my girlfriend's birthday and christmas so I've got to watch my money a little. I looked at the Authority's at walmart the other night and I can get them mounted and everything for $620 but I think my mom is going to help me out as my birthday present.

Re: What tires are you running?
Yea I've looked but everything on CL for my area is overpriced. I found a used set with less than 1/2 tread of bfg's for like $350. I'm trying to keep my eyes open though.

Re: What tires are you running?
I would say if you are still concidering the GY Wranglers at Wally World, DONT. I have never seen a set of Wranglers that lasted more than about 15000 miles. My dad ran some on an 03 Ram 1500 and they only lasted for 12000, and one of my roomates in college ran them on his Avalanche and he bought 2 set in 18 months. He averaged about 15000 per set. He replaced them with BFG MTs. Granted the Wranglers are cheaper, but not that much. I would say buy some Remmington Mud Brutes. I ran some on my Jeep in 33x12.50 and they did great. They were a little loud but 1200w of stereo and 11 different speakers covered that up. If you keep them rotated they should last at least 30-35000 miles easy. The Jeep ran them forever but it didnt weigh anything.
