i have a 1999 S10 Zr2 4.3L. i get like 200 miles per tank. i get horrible gas MPG. i have a K&N cold air intake FPIK, a custom dual exhaust, and a brand spanking new cat and all new O2 sensors. thats what you get when you own a Zr2.

What the fuel tank size again? 20 gallons? My 4.7 Dakota gets 300km with a 60L tank( ~185-215 miles on a 16 gallon tank). Shitty but thats with 240hp and 300ft lbs of torque so im not complaining.

Change out the fuel filter and plugs.

I did this on my 01 Jimmy and went from 200 to 300 miles per tank.

Re: this is ****in bullshit

no body has mentioned the MAF being dirty due to the K&N filter. Try cleaning the MAF and see what it does.

plugs has alot to do withe it. my 01 had champion plugs in it. I put delcos in it and I get 40 miles more to the tank. I have a 72 mile trip one way to work and I appreciate the extra mileage.

BTW let me know too what ditch and I will see if I can beat the others there.

Re: this is ****in bullshit

1. Calm down

2. What do you drive? City stop and go, highway?

3. Change your plugs, and fuel filter as said above.

I get about 280 miles a tank city. When I drove back and forth to high school (2 miles each way) and then to work (stop and go highway , 3 miles each way) I got about 12 miles per gallon. I bet it just how you drive (as in what roads, etc) that is causing it. If you decide to dump it in a ditch call me cause I'll take it and then drive and get 17 miles per gallon.

Re: this is ****in bullshit

i usually get 17-18 mpg with my 99 blazer2. i did get 20 mpg with it a couple of times, but it was very rare.

i get less when im driving in the city, but most of my driving is mixed. i have a k&n fipk gen II on it and some bfg a/t, my truck is also a 5 spd. the truck used to have either the rugged trail's or long trails (whatever one came stock, i dont remember) but maybe the tread design of your tire and/or tire pressure could affect your mileage too

i believe the truck has an 18gal tank. i usually get get about 280-300 miles on a tank, but ive pushed it beyond that a few times

Re: this is ****in bullshit

nobody has mentioned yet that the bad gas mileage might just be because of gearing...my s10 has 3.43's and i get about 17 mpg combined city/highway with 31's. he may just have 4.10 gears in the back or something, that coupled with an auto would keep the engine up in rpms at highway or city for that matter and use a lot more gas! but yeah check the stuff already said...im actually probably going to get a little better mileage when i do a tune up because i haven't done one yet and my 99 is at 64k. I hope to get up in the 19-20mpg range after that...good luck...let us know if you find anything out
