Spare tire rack mods

Hey i just wanted to see what mod ideas you guys had for the rear spare tire rack. I have taken mine off and left the braces on for now but would like to do something with it because it looks better but not as nice as i want it to.

Re: Spare tire rack mods

I ripped the brace off the frame last winter and destroyed the spare tire hoist. bought a new hoist and left the brace off, works just fine

Re: Spare tire rack mods

what I did was tie a tow rope on the spare tire brace, pulled out a f350 and wondered why my spare tire was laying on the ground.

the little cross member bar that goes over the spare tire hoist shaft to steady the spare tire is gone on mine, the spare tire just comes up against the shaft now, haven't had any problems.

Re: Spare tire rack mods

Sounds like he may have a blazer and took the spare tire mount off the back but left the hinges on it and wants to know what to do with it.

Re: Spare tire rack mods

you would be correct. I left the hinges on and was thinking of taking the mounting plate and grinding off the post. I mainly just wanted to see if anyone did some mods to the hinges.
