Question gonna buy but with 4wd problems...

Hey from Carolina guys!

anyways i think i found a pretty good deal for my first truck. a 2001 blazer zr2 with 89k miles for $4000 bucks. at least its good compared to what the others around my area are .

the only problem is that the electronic 4wd dont work right. all the modes will engage but the lights dont tell me what im in. none of the lights work except if i press and hold 4 low they all flicker. might this just be a loose wire or something in the mechanical part? thanks

Just go to you local auto parts store and buy a replacement 4wd switch. They should have an exact replacement. Try that first. If thats not it, you may have a bad switch to the t-case.

If you parts guy is as cool as mine he will let you switch it out and see if that is the problem. If it is, great. If no he will let you return it and help you figure out what the next problem is.

Wait. Do you have the truck already or are you looking at buying. If you havent bought it, see if the seller will replace that switch, or knock the price of the switch off of the selling price.

Yes, You will have to remove the dash trim (make sure you search this so you dont break it) and push the switch out from the back. Then unplug the wireing harness plug the new switch into it, and put it all back together. Real easy. I dont know about the T-case switch but it should be similarly easy.

No you don't. You can take a small object tht won't scratch the dash and pop the 4x4 switch right out. It only takes about two seconds. But also I hit a water hole in mine once and the 4wd lights would just blink like that and I unhooked the battery for like 10 minutes or so to let the computer reset and it worked fine after that. It would definately be worth a shot before you go and buy a new switch and if it doesn't work all you wasted was 10 minutes! Good luck!
