New Navy Camo Help??

Would like to get some input from other service members on how to make a camo uniform look sharp. I know how to iron them...just wondering if anyone has any tricks on rolling the sleeves up nice or blousing the pants right. I just got a set and will be wearing them next week.

Oh BTW....im in the Navy and will be wearing the new NWU.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

I dunno about your digis but in the Army you don't press the ACUs and normal boot blousers do the job. The guy on the right looks like a D-Bag though...Left one looks better...

A lighter does a good job of getting all the loose strings...

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

They are allowing you guys to iron the new NWU?
edit: Nm, nope.
Quote:
The NWU uniform, unlike its predecessors, were also designed to be longer lasting, and does not need to be ironed like previous uniforms.
So that's not happenin.

You don't really need to do anything to the new uniforms except make sure to shake them right after drying and make sure there isn't any bad wrinkles in them.....make sure to pick all the loose strings off. Other than that, there's not really much.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

Haha, I just saw that pic. That blousing looks like shit. Get a size longer pants than normal and blouse them in the boot as high as possible so you can pull the overhang out so it looks decent.

And white lettered name/service/rank was completely fvcking retarded on that type of camo....you can barely see the fvckin shit.

Dont want to sound retarded...but I have been wearing the dungarees for 9 years. What is the best way to blouse them to make them look sharp?

As far as ironing....im not starching them or anything...but a light press to make all the pockets and name tapes nice and flat.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

the navy camies are just like the marines (i just got out of the marines) besides the colors, same cut and every thing. best thing to do it starch and iron your cover so it looks sharp and pointy if you are wearing the 8point. blousing you trousers i would fold mine up about 3 folds each fold about 1-2 inches wide. id fold my sleeves up to the middle of the arm pocket the fold would be about 4 fingers wide. on the trousers i would iron the cargo pockets flat and the same for the chest pocket flaps.

A marine showed me this a while back....so all you do is fold the pants up 3 times about 1-2 inches wide to where they meet up the middle of the boot...and just tuck them up and into the strap right?

Sleeves for us are different then the marines. I think the army and air force have the same style as we do.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

I know the ACUs are treated with a special additive( I believe to make them have a higher flash point) and if you starch them it ruins the additives..I wonder if they are the same fabric as the Marine digis or Army ACUs...The Marine's are a better fabric...

They feel and look exactly the same as the marines camies. They even have the small imprints of the ACE all over the uniform (Marines have small EGA imprints on theirs). Only difference is the way the sleeves are rolled up and their pockets (Theirs are angled....ours are not). Ours are rolled the way the Army and Air Force do theirs. Its for emergency situation where sleeves have to be brought down quick.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

I don't know about the NWUs, we haven't gotten them yet, but on my green camies, I always hit them with a light iron. If you don't, the pockets look all ****ed up, and they just don't hang right. As far as blousing, I say just use a set of boot blousers, no fancy folds or tucking them in the boots or anythings. The elastic boot blousers seem more comfortable to me because the elastic moves with the movement of your calf muscles better and you don't have to worry about them coming untucked from your boots.

Re: New Navy Camo Help??

I like the Marine metal blouser better...A guy in my platoon transferred over from the Marines and was putting them on one day and I asked if he could give me a set..They stay put much better than the elastic ones...

Ever seen Band of Brothers 1st or 2nd episode where the guy who hasn't graduated Abn. yet already has his boots bloused and gets in trouble?

What we would do is pull the material tight around where ever you wanted them and take the excess material in the back and wrap it to one side or the other and then tie up the boots. Then you just sort of "fluff" the overhang over the tops of the boots and have it hang down 1-3". Never go more than halfway down the boot though.
If it's still a little fuzzy, I can take a few pics if you want to show ya.

Like the new E-1/E-6 service uniform, the new Navy Working Uniform or NWU is the latest working uniform to be introduced by the United States Navy.
Actually, wouldn't that be "oxymoron"? Kind of like "military intelligence"?

So how would "new working uniform" still be redundant? Is that another oxymoron since you guys dont work and it's a "new" working uniform?

If it was "NEW WORKING UNIFORM", then saying new NWU is redundant because you'd be saying new twice...but since I was WRONG ( first time for eveything) and its not "NEW WORKING UNIFORM", I'll retract my previous statement of anything being redundant.

...and PFT! Bitch please, you don't know what work is. Just because I don't work where I'm stationed now, doesn't mean its like that for everybody.
