military poem

if you read my marine poem in the ot forum you know i support the military and am an amatuer poet...so heres somethin for the troops...

Hate me if you want, or love me if
you can, either way I'm the one
fighting to protect your land. I'm
an ocean away, in a place you'd
never stay. I'm fighting off people
who in their own minds are right,
but either way you won't support
the fight.


Shooting by day, moving by night,
my loved ones at home praying I'm
alright. I left them behind in a
disarray, to fight for a world caught
in dismay. There's no other approach,
no other way, the only choice is
either me or him dying today.
If it's him you say I'm a murderer, if
it's me they must pay, in his death
a nation may fall, in mine you say a
hero has died today.


We both fight for what we believe,
even if one of us is being deceived.
I know what's wrong, and I know
what's right, and I won't go down
without a fight. He is my opponent,
my enemy, yet at the same time my
brother, a man willing to die for what
he believes, deep inside he is just like
me. We may be different, we may
disagree, but we're both soldiers,
fighting to be free.


Soldiers without worry, soldiers without
shame, all soldiers who feel no sorrow,
feel no pain. I may die today, fighting
so you can be free, but in your
freedom will you stand against me? I
don't know why you say the things
you say, or do the things you do, all
I know is I might die for you. I won't
hide from this, and I won't runaway,
just because you don't think they
should pay.


I'm not fighting a nation, I'm not
fighting a man, I'm fighting a war on
this thing called terror, something you
don't understand. I'm not out here
murdering, stealing peoples land, I'm
protecting and rebuilding, saving the
life of my fellow man. I fight for what
I believe, for our land I will stand, but
you will gather in the street, trying to
tie my lending hands.


I am a soldier for you, not for me, a
soldier trying to save you and your
family. I'll pay your price, and make
your sacrifice. I'll die for you, knowing
you wouldn't for me, it's just one of the
things I'd do 'cause freedom doesn't
come free. I'm a navy seal, or maybe a
pilot, I'm an army ranger, or maybe a
marine, all you know is I'm a soldier,
fighting in a place you've never seen.

i know this is an old ass thread but ,

props for the poem , i like it.

im actually starting a work up for a depoyment , i leave in september to do all those things.
