Re: iraq?
Was there for a year back in '05, we were at VBC/BIAP.
We stayed in our trailers watching movie, playing PS2, going to our building and playing on the internet, sleeping....etc. We didn't really have much free time in between missions but what we did have was used up by what I just mentioned. What are you guys doing at Asad? |

Re: iraq?
in 05 i was at fob normandy in baquabah, cleaned weapons, did pushups, wrote home, then in 07-08 i was at fob hammer right outside butler range complex southeast og baghdad. there wasn't anything there to do, besides build up outposts. never got out of tents either. first trip i lived in a bombed out building with no ventilation, and the second trip i lived 15 months in a tent with 18 other guys.

Re: iraq?
I'm at Camp Bucca right now and can't wait to go home, only a few more weeks in the shitty country. Then hopefully can find a project to start on soon after.

Re: iraq?
Im in Iraq now, In Ali Airbase/Talil AFB/COB Adder/Dhi Qar, Thats how many names they call this place and everyone calls it something different. Which gets old really quick. But besides the point after a 12-14 hours for fixing radios in the BN's motorpools and making sure the BCT CDR is up i go to my room and play xbox. I dont sleep to much....by choice ![]() |

Re: iraq?
So, good ole Al Asad. Been there done that... Got the t-shirt. I was there for a total of about 15 months, two rotations about 7 months long each.
Honestly if you are going to be stationed at Al Asad for your whole deployment you are pretty lucky. It is probably one of the "nicest" places to be stuck in Iraq. When I was there they had a pretty decent Rec center. It was the big white building across from the old theater. They have an internet area and they have a videogame room with Xboxs and Playstations. If you can, get a bicycle it makes all the difference in the world for getting around that base. I was able to build one from parts on my first rotation out there and on my second rotation I "acquired" a very nice bike that was left behind when one of my room mates went home. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them were still rolling around the base somewhere. I also wouldn't be surprised if the base has changed a ton since I have been there. I know it changed so much in the 7 months between my trips that it was hard to believe and the last time I was there was in 2006 so who knows what they have going on now. There were a couple of fairly nice gym's on the base too and honestly that's where I spent a lot of my free time. The Stadium had a bunch of shops run by foreign nationals and they had tons of cheap bootleg movies and all kinds of other weird crap. You could get copies of movies that haven't even hit the theaters stateside yet, that was always fun. But, stay safe keep your head down and try not to go too crazy. |

Re: iraq?
06-07 VBC Bco 3/144 INF runnin wit a police transition team. it was nice all we did was say hey iraqi police you are you do what you do and we do what we do. if we see a way you may be able to improve we will tell you and you do the same. we did alot of joint training. whenever shit started poppin of if we were with the ip's we went with them either as assault team or base of fire. when we were along we did as ya do as a blue blood.
in my free time i mastubated. alot. i also fabricated all of our deer blinds on our turrets. and longed to see my girl touch herself on the web cam, and did some seats to sit back further. every waking secound i masturbated. also painted and designed the company logo on a blast barrier. and thought about masturbating. hated defflury cow hall but loved going to the laundry wen the you filpono was workin cuz i thought of her when i mastubated. biggest bit of advice i have to help make it through a dployment is to mastubate. |
