I went yesterday to in prosess and they gave us a weekend pass and we get our phones. No drill sargeants...crazy. I am suppposed to be graduating on 22 oct.

AIT is a joke, it's just a little annoying. They treat you better but your still just a dumb private so some kind of talk down to you. Just keep some "military bearings" and don't get in trouble so you can get out of there where your supposed to. I've never been to Jackson but I heard it's pretty weak there so you should be allright. How we did it at Ft. Eustis was we got up did PT, did our schooling, and if we passed certian criteria/ didnt get in trouble you got weekend passes but that will prob vairy on your company/unit. You can have fun in AIT just like basic try and make the best of it but know the real Army is diff than that shit. Good luck on your schooling man!

BCT was the most useless two and a half months of my life. AIT was just as bad (we had DS's at both places). I didnt learn anything from BCT and AIT except how to do a proper pushup and flutter kick. When you get to your unit you will learn about 50% of your job and in Iraq of Afghanistan youll learn the rest.

I liked my military experience,it was fun.It's alot different when you're done with ait and basic. I never got deployed though,just stayed in North Carolina(Ft. Bragg).I bought my '94 Nissan pick-up there and joined the local car club(Acrophobic Minis).

Yeah that's what everyone says....Sorry to to tell ya but it's not true...If you have to add the word Combat in front of your MOS then you aren't Combat anything... And no one does 11B but 11Bs...

I've seen mechanics and other POGs clear rooms ...Let's just say I DO NOT wanna be going into that room with them....You'd either get shot by another soldier or bad guy...You won't be coming out alive...And I'm not a fobbit and the guys that rolled in to refit probably weren't either....those guys probably deserved a trip to green bean after not having a shower for the past week and only one hot meal a day...

Convoy Security is a pretty broad term...And means nothing to me...It's like a PAC clerk going back home and telling everybody they are a "soldier" and they deployed and heard mortars go off (outside the FOB) give me a break....

wow, sufficed to say you can't argue with a 11bang bang just to stubborn headed even if they are wrong. i've cleared rooms with mechanics and grunts, i don't see why some people are so one sided to not see that without even the smallest pog ass mos they still wouldn't get shit done. even the marines know that ass a fact. yes everyone in the marines is infantry first but even they know its all full circle. i guess when you are in a unit that puts grunts on pedistals cause they have enough to fill the body bags you would get bull headed, come down to fort benning and come to the hill and see if that attitude makes it.

Marines aren't all infantry first either...We had some trumpet players relieve us right before we came home...I had a Marine tell me that their regular Infantry was as good as Army Rangers... .... And why is every other MOS in the Army??? To support the Infantry ( The oldest military profession..foot soldiers) Tankers do overwatch and kill other tanks...Quartermasters issue clothing/gear for the Infantry..( They also issue it to other MOSs so that they can do their job and support the Infantry..) I could go for days...Cooks feed everyone so they can support us....

our ps was sgt tyson, also if you have hardcore paratroopers for cadre and they ask you if you wanna go to airborne school dont hesitate and do it. =] especially if you thinking of doing infantry later
