Done!

I got my Honorable Discharge papers in the mail yesterday. I was a little down about it. I guess it is really over. I guess if I really really wanting to go back i could go back to boot camp ( back to the hills in hollywood) and be a reservest.

Re: Done!

I don't think you'd have to go back to boot camp if you already did it once. I think they wave that.

Re: Done!

It depends on how long it's been. We had a guy in AIT who was a former E6, but he'd been out so long, he needed to go through BCT and AIT all over again... His Class As looked blingy...

I hear that man. I left after my time was up and it was the hardest decision I had to make so far. Good money, lots of travel, awesome job...but man it was stressing me out bad. The Post 9/11 GI Bill is your friend now, USE THAT SUCKER FOR ALL ITS WORTH. I am probably going to transfer to a better school next year basically to max out my GI Bill money for tuition (in PA it is $800/semester hour up to $7500/semester). And apply for unemployment compensation too..Im sure they told you about that in your transition classes...it helps you transition better if you still have a couple bucks in your pocket to get started. And once you get a degree in 4 years, if you really miss it, go back in as an Officer (assuming you werent one). O1-Es make a couple hundred more than regular 0-1s, and if I remember right, O1-Es make like $3000/month base pay and it goes up alot after that. I used to work with an O3-E and with all his entitlements he was clearing $10,000 a month (overseas of course). Something to think about!

Before we deployed to Iraq in '05, we had an E5 former Marine join up with the Guard and our unit. He served from '81-84 and got out as an E5. The Guard allowed him to keep his rank and that was that....just joined up with us one day as an E5.

You can imagine how fvcking pissed off some E4P's were that this douchebag motherfvcker took an E5 slot after 20 fvcking years of being out versus guys who had been in the unit 4 years waiting for a slot to open up.
Then, in addition to that, the fvckin douche was worthless and ended up hurting both knees cuz he's 832 years old and only joined back up to get Tricare for his sick son.

Re: Done!

^^^ Blue Falcons....We had a guy come to the unit a few weeks back that was in when they wore Greens....Been out since like 86 or something...Did a ruckmarch with us and cried like a baby and instead of kicking his ass out they just slotted him for a S-shop....In the civilian world if you can't work and earn the money then you get booted...

Considering he was talking about going back to "boot" in Hollywood, then I presume he's a jarhead.

Funny as how I've been out for about two years now, and I actually miss it.

Lemme know if you want to join the Guard, and just do it part-time.
