What Year SS's Were The Step-Side's An Option?

Looking at an 96' SS and 2 things stick out and I've asked him about one. 1st thing was the chrome grill and black bumper with a chrome strip. He said it was never in an accident and that only a few were offered with the chrome grill option.

I don't think so, but I may be completely wrong.

2nd thing is it has a step side bed. Haven't read anything about this, can someone clearify what years the step-side bed was offered as an option please?

All ss have color matched front ends

i believe the stepsides were offered from 96-98 buti see alot of 98 stepsides

check the glovebox for the rpo codes...B4U is a ss

Thanks! I was 95% pos. on the front ends but the step sides had me baffled. It tough to trust a seller when they say it's all original and never been wrecked, but has a chrome grill and what appears to be a newer bumper.

I'll keep on looking. I'm not a big fan of red at all but there's a red one here going pretty cheap and all it looks like it needs is a corner piece to the front bumper.

yeah that one has either been damaged or changed.
Impact strip wasnt ever on the bumper, no chrome grille or chrome bar. The SS had 'monochrome' (body-color) bumpers, grille, etc
