SS Question
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1994 SS with 100k on the clock for about $5000. It looks to be in pretty good condition, good paint and good interior. Is that a fair price and what specifically do I need to look for in the VIN to be sure it is a real SS....what digit and what should it be?
Thanks, Mike |

Re: SS Question
That sounds very steep for me. I picked up my old 94 SS with 120k miles and a few upgrades for $1800 lol. Check the RPO sticker in the glove box, if it has ZQ8 and B4U listed in there, it's an SS.

Re: SS Question
Yeah...a 94's not worth half that. The 94's didn't even have the ZQ8 option....only the B4U. They were full ride height.

Re: SS Question
They still had a ZQ8 option, but it was for heavy duty leafs and coils. That's why you see 94 and 95 SS trucks being used as work trucks sometimes. My 94 SS had 4 leaves on the springs in back, where as my 98 just had 3.

Re: SS Question
SSfan: Do you still have these HD leafs?
What exactly was different about the 94-95 suspension, if it was stock ride height? Was it just stiffer? |

Re: SS Question
heavy duty coils and leafs were on the 94-95 ss's plus the thick front sway bar and tight ratio steering box thats what the zq8 package was back then and yes it was quite a bit stiffer in my opinion, and no i dont have my leafs anymore they were pretty much wore out so i think i trached them if i remember right

Re: SS Question
Mine ride so rough, it rides worse than a 80's short bed 4x4 we used to have.
It's very stiff, can't wait to get some lowering springs for it. |

Re: SS Question
Anything over $3,500 is to much. Unless it happens to be pristine. Good low mileage though. But don't get taken t the cleaners make sure you check the options list in the glove box.
