Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

The roof needs some love too. Nice project so far. You going to paint your ZQ8 rims next, like your dad, to match your new stripes?

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

i never did like roof stripes i know they put them on x's but they didnt put them on the chevelles/camaros/novas and things like that on the chevy muscle cars and ive always liked the look without the roof stripes thats why i did it plus the sunroof makes it more work than its worth....i dont want to paint the wheels because i think it would be too much red with the stripes i like my dads wheels they look great, but i just had mine resurfaced and polished then clear coated, i like the shiny look on the grey rather than the red

Another update, i just took it to the 1st show since getting all this done friday and got a great response it trophied the 1st time out without being wet-sanded and buffed so im happy with that

Im putting a floor shifter from a blazer in it on wednesday, i gotta put red carpet on that console as well ill have pics up!

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

to get the shifter out for saturday, take out the 2 10 mm bolts in the cup holders, then pull the clip in the front of the shifter, then at the botom of the back of the shift boot take a flat head screw driver and pop the plastic clip out and the whole shift knob will lift off, then since we didnt bolt down the back of the console it should lift right out

then there are two plugs, one on each side of the shifter un hook those and then take the screw holding the broken shift cable off, then you can remove the nuts holding the shifter to the mounting plate and then take the shifter assembely out, then there are the 2 3/8" and one 7/16" self tapping screws holding down your mounting plate, take those out and youre ready to mount the old console

Lookin' good, but I'd paint the middle of the bowtie white and leave the red as is to go with the rest of the truck.

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

Does your paint guy have enough of that custom red for the bowtie to match the stripes?

The bowtie is a perfect match with prowler red which is a mopar color..at least they produced one good thing!lol...thats the red we used for the stripes then we added the gold pearl to make it pop...when you look at it in the sun the stripes are a perfect match with the bowtie then the gold pearl comes out he couldntve gotten the color any better at least in my opinion....even if i wanted to theres no way to paint the bowtie and make it look right i would have to take it apart and try to get it back together its not worth it

Unless you guys both live on the same street you shouldn't let that stop you from getting what you want.
Heck my son's Sonoma came with them and I'm not taking them off because I've seen other trucks with them...LOL

mine wont have as much red as your ledsled, its not done but i did a trail on a junk door panel i have i also took the armrest off and painted it too heres the trial

i didnt do a bright red i did a darker red to match the carpet/headliner and such i think it looks alot better than the all grey door panel
