Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

I got the hood blended and i did a couple little details here and there and my spekers were going bad so i replaced them all with brand new sony xplod speakers to match my xplod head unit, normal size 4x6 for the dash and 6.5 for the doors, i installed them tonight and theres a huge difference ALOT better sound with alot of base

Im not raining on anyones parade, more power to you ssfan. I had sonys in my dash for a year and a half and they did just fine, but i recently upgraded and theres a huge difference. for the price they are perfect for upgrading from stock, and thats obviously what you want. Sorry if i came across as an asshole

sounds good, I hope I can make it to the meet with all the graduations going on

as far as subs, are you just wanting to run one? and definitely look at parts express at the dayton subs and if you want to go 12" the DIYMA Reference sub on E-Bay from npdang, all of them have great SQ

Oh, and who did your paint? im thinking about doing mine about the same, only more blue pearl in it

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

I dont know i really want to run 2 but i dont know if 2 will fit

it was painted at work, i work at maaco we have one of the best body guys around if you need that done, its a 3 stage job the diamond white is a factory color so he would have to do a custom mix for yours if you want more blue but yeah we can do that

oh, i didnt know you worked at Maaco, actually what i want im pretty sure is a factory lexus color, I shouldnt really need any body work after i get the new bed on, but Id strip it to bare and spray epoxy on it before I took it up, then you can work from there

and yes, 2 12" subs fit just fine, I'll have to show you mine I've got a 2ish cubic foot sealed box, you just need to move your jack
I'd even sell you my setup, but the top of the box needs trimmed off for your truck, and even then i dont know if it will fit under the trim piece/brace so i can just build another box that will fit yours better

heres mine pretty much as it is right now

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

Where did you get your CAI at?

I've been tryin' to find a decent one for the 4.3.

I want to buy one off ebay and make a heat shield for it.

Just curious where you got your's and how it works!

Cool. That's the one I was thinkin of and I just haven't heard to much about the CPI kits.

I am gonna try and built a heat shield for mine so its a true CAI.

Just wanted to see how all the sensors and hoses mounted to the kit!

yeah the sensors all line up fine with it, the only thing you'll have to do is make a bracket to keep it from moving around while your driving, they give you a piece of metal to do it so its a pretty easy install

Re: Project: "Diamond in the Rough" SS

The dual flowmasters are installed and i also added a surprise mod today as well!

I first wet sanded the hood and tailgate

Then i took it to work and me and my painter layed out some sick stripes and sprayed them in prowler red with a nice gold pearl over it

The pearl

From this angle you see the red

Now some orange

Some gold

More orange...you can also see the duals

red

My painter taped these stripes all by free hand, it took over an hour to lay out, he did an amazing job

Pics really doesnt do these justice these stripes really set it off with the custom pearl red it really goes good with the pearl white, i love it!
