Re: New SS and new member

Nothing really, it was a local trade in. They repair some of their cars and sell them. The reason it was traded in, was because it kept dying at random times and sometimes would not start. Everything had been replaced on the truck to "diagnose" the problem, but nothing worked, so he got rid of it.

After many hours of pulling my hair out, I found the problem. The fuel pump had been replaced along with a new pigtail connector going to the pump. Whoever wired up the new connector, did not get the ground connected good with the butt connector. It had gotten hot and melted a little. I run a double ground straight to the pump and it has been perfect ever since.

Thanks for the welcome. I love these trucks. This truck has been in the same town as me for three years now. I almost owned it once before, but the owner backed out of the trade. When it showed up at the salvage yard, a year later, I just had to have it.

Re: New SS and new member

Thanks for the welcome guys. The truck really does look better in the pictures than in person. I only paid 1900.00 for it. I figured that was a fair price. It has 140,000 miles. It runs and drives great.

Is it normal for these trucks to bark the tires when it shifts into 2nd? It does it even when I take off slowly?

Re: New SS and new member

if it barks second when u take off slowly, it either has a corvette servo, or a shift kit in the trans

Re: New SS and new member

lol.......your right I probably do, but this time was an "accident" she says. She was aiming at a rabbit, that was eating her garden. She didn't realize that what you see in the scope isn't exactly where the bullet goes. The barrel is a good two inches below the scope. So, shooting off the side of my truck wasn't the best move ever.

Re: New SS and new member

Cool, I hope thats what it is and not an upcoming problem. I had a 94 Z28 with the 4l60E tranny, and it always had problems. I had to sell the car, because the freaking trannys wouldn't last. It once started barking gears before it went out. I guess I'm just a little gunshy of these trannys.

Re: New SS and new member

Thanks for the welcome guys! Bad news though, the truck was in a bad hail storm. It mostly damaged the hood and the top of the cab, but its pretty bad. I ordered a new hood and put it on yesterday. The truck is going in to be totally repainted next week. I had full coverage on my other two vehicles, but this one only had liability. The insurance company totaled my full size, but let me buy it back for $125.00. Geico is awsome! Here is a couple of pics, one of the new hood and another of the totaled full size.

Re: New SS and new member

Lol I had the same thing happen to me,every time I hear of bad storms, possible hail, headed our way, I cringe. I came very close buying a cowl hood, but stayed with the SS theme.

Re: New SS and new member

i would repaint it, but its really not worth it. the body has some rust spots, so id have to get that fixed first, and im better off just selling it as is and buying a new truck. prob wont be for another 5-6 months. ive still got to finish school before looking for a new ride..unless a good deal comes along.

Re: New SS and new member

Here's better pics outside. I have also added headlight covers, which are not on. I also added ss emblems to the side of the cowl hood.

They are off of the new 2009 camaro ss. It was the grill badges.

Re: New SS and new member

Well, I lowered the back two inches, looks much better! Don't have any pics yet. My cousin works for comp cams, and is going to install a wet single stage 100hp shot. First I have to have new racing seats installed so I can fit the bottle between the seats. Just waiting on the seats right now. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. I also put a new super 44 flowmaster and gutted the cat. Sounds awsome!

The shop put two spark plug non foulers together and screwed my O2 sensor into the last one then screwed the non fouler into the o2 bung. I get absolutely no service codes with it installed that way!!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I have really enjoyed the truck so far. They make great little project trucks.
