94 SS Help
Hello everyone,
After searching the net for info on doing a V8 conversion, it has become clear that this is the joint to find it. I have recently been given a 94 S10. My intentions are to do a backhalf and a V8 swap. The S10 will be "drag only" The person who owned the vehicle before I dropped in a 350 TBI motor. It is not running. When I went to look at the truck, I noticed the SS emblems and asked the owner about them. He said that he never heard of a S10 SS and he indicated that he thought they were aftermarket emblems. It is black with a rear roll pan instead of a bumper. For that matter neither had I until this past week after doing some research. It also had a 4.3. I have not verified the RPO codes yet, but everthing else points to this truck being an SS. My questions are: I plan on hacking the truck up to accomplish my goal of a 10 sec. drag truck. Would it be better to sale this truck to someone who would like to put it back to as original as possible? No offense, but I could care less about it being a SS, I am only interested in accomplishing my goal. Are these S10's that collectible? My research indicates there is a following. I would hate to cut-up a vehicle that might be of value to someone else. Thanks in advance for any responses. |

Re: 94 SS Help
They're not as collectible as the syclones and typhoons, nor as rare. I don't think you're going to hurt anyones feelings if you make it a 10 second truck. You'll probably make more people happy that you have a 10 sec ss in fact. Leave the emblems on and go with it. The only differences between the ss and regular s-10 is 10 or so hp, a little more torque, fog lights, roll pan, sway bar and zq8 suspension in the later years. But if it already has a v8 in it no one I can imagine would go and put the 4.3 back in it. Especially the CPI 4.3 that came in the 94's. Do your thing man, hook that beast up!

Re: 94 SS Help
My brother died in his SS going about 75MPH, so if I had it I would put it back to stock like his was. I would make it a memorial truck with a tombstone airbrushed into the tailgate. R.I.P. Chris Thompson 9-6-03. We just finished a little body work, new rims and a bangin system. The subwooker bux with 3 15" subs took up the whole bed and was as tall as the topper, could fit about 6 bodies into the sub-box. It could be heard 5 blocks away, but didn't have the chance to mic it with a DB meter. Tthe box and ports were so huge which made it hit extremely deep, about 30HZ.
I want an SS to make into a memorial truck in his name, I wouldn't drive it. and if I had one i would put the 4.3 W back into it. If I was to make a memorial truck it would be numbers matching to sit for 20-30 years or so. I would build it and let it sit in storage only taking it out for shows. It would be my brothers truck and he wouldn't let anyone drive it only him. I might take it to car shows but thats it. Mostly stock minor upgrades. 55falfa, you should sell me that SS. I forgot to mention, my brother SS was a 94. |
