Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

It's for a tomtom one 3rd edition gps. When I select to upgrade maps it has two options and says I need to buy both:
"Upgrade to the latest map(original map discounted by 50%)
The TomTom map update service requires you to start with the latest map on your device."

And the other option is:
"TomTom Map update service - 1- year-us & Canada
The TomTom map update service provides every single release of your map over a fixed persiod, allowing you to always drive on the latest map."

Which one should I buy?

Re: Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

With the one year, it sounds like you get 1 year of updates for the price. I would go with that one.

Re: Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

Had no clue you could get them on there, didn't even think about it. What should I search for?

Re: Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

Search "Tom Tom map update." Check a couple of the torrent sites, I know I've seen Garmin update torrents on some sites.

Re: Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

good luck with them. . .my dad was selling quite a few used GPS units this past spring and summer, and i went to update the maps on them, and i could hardly ever find the appropriate map and updates on torrent sites. . .i found some of them, but i had to go through alot of torrent sites to find any that were worthwhile. .

Re: Upgrading TomTom GPS Maps.

well then if it's that much work I might as well just spend $40. Found out that it came with one free update so I got that done.

it just depends on the models. . .my dad was selling about 12 different models, and some were a little older, so finding maps and updates was difficult. . .look around, find a good torrent search engine and see what you come up with. . .the tomtoms are the "popular" gps units, so you might have more like finding that stuff than i did looking up the garvins, magellans, and some of the other ones i had to find. . .
