To be honest, pretty much everything you said went over my head lol.
But by doing a quick count of the games that I own for both xbox and ps3 all 12 xbox games have the 720p/1080i/1080p listed while the 3 ps3 games I own list 480p/720p.
My tv also lists the resolution that its being played at so I don't have to guess if its 720 or 1080.

At the moment the only advantage the ps3 is holding over my xbox is that I was able to download the original silent hill and final fantasty 7for the original playstation off of the playstation store. So I'll be doin some old school gaming for a while.

I pretty much bought the ps3 for the blu ray capability and thats about it. I got it last year when sony style had it for 100 bucks off so I only paid 299 and some change.

lol I had a dream the Xbox 720 was already out along with the PS4. I've heard that both the new consoles will be out at the end of 2011. But the 360 came out atleast 1 year before the ps3.

I dont think either of them are going to push new consoles soon....If the pattern continues I think both companies are going to expand themselves and the consoles as much as they possibly can online. They are going to milk the crap out of digital distribution and make as much profit as they can off of dlc.

thats how it should be, prices finally come down, then they are jumping ships to a new console...sucks balls. I like how they said the PS3 will try to get 10 years out of it. I wish pcs would do the same. After 3 months its obsolete. The consoles need to stay around as long as possible in my opinioun.

yeah sony has proclaimed endlessly that the ps3 is set for a 10 year life cycle unlike almost every console before it being 5 years. I honestly dont think they can produce much more out of it due to the ram needed for the work load the processor can handle. Dont get me wrong the cell processor is a wonderful thing, it really is, but the supporting hardware isnt up the par to put it to its full potential. On that note....anyone seen Uncharted 2? Best graphics by far I think of both consoles, gears 2 coming in close second. MGS4 had some nice character models though...but the rest was bland.

Uh yeah MGS4 was the best game on the PS3 hands down, it's a shame it's the last one. That game series has the best story line of any game ever. I heard their in talks for a movie which I hope if they do it's a high budget and not just some crappy knock off.

I seen a little bit about Uncharted 2. I bought the 1st one and saw it was rated Teen so I figured that it'd be ok, but it was a really fun game. I loved Fallout 3 too, it was pretty neat.

i was an advid 'box fan, i loved it, thought it was great, untill i went through 3 of them, in less than 1.5 years, i tryed the external fans and all that bullshit, then on the 3rd one i traded it in on a 1st gen 60GB PS3, and have had NO issues whatso ever. i have had this ps3 now a lil over 2 years. since i work 6 days a week i only play madden, mlb, NFS, and ressistance, which most of those are on every console.

its microsoft being cheap, and not taking their time to solder shit right, dont get me wrong 360 has great games, and Live is extrodinary, but the console itself, and its internals are junk.

Alright I know this is a month old, but its the same title that I was gonna post a few questions under so i'm bumpin it back up.

Anyways, x-max and my b-day are rolling around and I've been wanting a bluray player for awhile. Figure I may as well spend the extra $150 and get the new PS3. I'm just wondering what the differnces are of the old style ps3 vs the new style ps3. From what I gathered from readin this thread was they dont play the ps1 or 2 games anymore, which isnt a problem, and they still play bluray. Do they upconvert normal dvds still?

Mainly just looking for the differnce for the new and old ps3?

Thats what i'm askin, what makes them play better? Is it kinda like the refresh rate on tvs, they all play at 1080i, but some run slow refresh rates giving them that slight blur. Not being an ass, just have no clue on these things.

I've read many places that the PS3 is the best bluray player you can get, granted this was a few years ago. Blurays look great on my 1080p.
