laptop battery/charger connection?
so my laptop wont stay running on AC for very long....its still plugged in but it switches to battery and dies(cuz i never look down and check)....what the ****?!....
it will run on AC for about 10-15 minutes then it loses the connection and goes to battery.....i have to unhook it and plug it in again to get another 10 minutes.... this is the 2nd laptop this has happened to....first was an HP this one is a compaq (im a cheap bastard) whats going on? is it just the connection thats bad? is the battery shot? any help? |

Faulty DC jack, can be fixed though for a price lol.... not that im soliciting lol... if you are technically advanced, its a simple repair depending on the design, should be a long term fix with some solder. |

Id recommend replacing the dc jack, that away you got a fresh start and new material to solder, should be a 3 prong design, just get a solder pump and take off the old solder, clean up the mess with a good cleaning solution, then from there solder on the new dc jack. after the repair, id let it cure for about 2-3 hours just to make sure its settle and cured. after that be gentle with the dc plug, gently plug in ac adapter and take good care of it and not drop it or nothing like that. |
