Re: dvd burning

thanks for moving it punk, i forgot all about this section of the forum.

anyways, i don't need to shrink them, just want to make straight 1:1 copies of them. i have a dvd burner, so it's not an issue. and for the new dual layer discs, well, i've already got that covered too.

Re: dvd burning

I use DVDshrink and Nero. It only shrinks them if they are too big for a normal disc. You can't tell the difference, and the normal discs are alot cheaper than the dual layer. If you really want them 1:1, you can set it to do that, and it will still work.

That's a good program, too. If you want to go that route, you can find places online to download it for free.

anyDVD and cloneDVD are by far the easiest.............

but dvd decrypter and dvd shrink are the best FREE programs, it's what i use and i've never had a problem with them. you can find good tutorials on ow to use them properly if you need em, but i think their pretty self-explanitory (sp)

Re: dvd burning

I have tried all the others listed, and dvd x copy platinum is by far the best out there.

I mean come on... put dvd in... it reads it, eject dvd, put in blank dvd, hit start... burn, eject, put in dvd player, then watch

It's cant be any easier then that, plus it compresses larger than 4.7 gig movies.

Who wants to mess with making disc images, encoding, encrypting, using multiple programs etc. BLAH!!

haven't messed with xcopy in a while, but does it allow you to choose what language and sound options you keep, does it let you choose which extras to compress or remove, does it let you choose what level of compression for the main titles?

Seeing that I watch my movies in english, dont watch with subtitles... i dont need some of those features. The one thing dvd X copy lacks is the ability tomanipulate the main menu. But you can choose which chapters/titles you keep and it automatically compresses larger than 4.7 gig movies to fit onto a 4.7 gig single layer dvd if your not using a dual layer. Its a good program. Plus, anyone around me just watches movies to watch them, not to sit around and mess with features, menus and options all the time... So DVD x copy works out great

I got my copy from Minivova, which is a Torrent site, and I use Azureus to download my torrents. and go from there.

Re: dvd burning

I am using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. after the decrypter runs and I open up shrink and get it started I get this error -

dvdshrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
falied to read file "D:\"
data error (cycle redundancy check).

- anyone know what this means, I have run it a few times and it stops in different places in the movie.

I agree. Apollo works great ! I've been using it for about 9 months. I needed software that allowed me to burn episode dvd's.
Some versions of DVDXCopy won't allow you to do that. With Apollo I have a choice.

I've had that happen to me once before. All I did was take the dvd out and wipe it off then ran the program again and it worked.

usually thats the copyright protection. www.afterdawn.com has very good tutorials on how to back up your DVD collection. personally, i use DVDshrink, and DVDfab decryptor. DVDfab for all the PITA sony releases, and DVDshrink for all the rest.

well thats not entirely true. . .i'm using netflix and i got Ultimate Avengers the day it was released and the same with Saw 2 . . .just have to have available spots open on your queue and have the luck i guess. . .doesn't matter though. . .i think most of us who use netflix aren't really using it for the "New Releases" . . .personally, i use it to get me those hard to find DVDs that Blockbuster will never carry, or movies that Best Buy wants to charge me $20 for. . .also, its not bad if you are trying to catch up on some of the TV series that you've missed
