The U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act deems copying of copyrighted music (with the exception of making a copy for your own use) as illegal. The U.S. Code protects copyright owners from the unauthorized reproduction, adaptation or distribution of sound recordings, as well as certain digital to the public. In more general terms, it is considered legal for you to purchase a and record (rip) it to MP3 files for your own use only. Uploading these files via peer-to-peer
would constitute a breach of the law.

the law does not include downloading. only that uploading is illegal. as i said before, legal to download. illegal to share.

Do you even know what you just posted?

Even on the site you copy & pasted that text from says so, you just don't include it. but it was the next paragraph. Learn to read and understand what all the terms mean before you try again.

Re: Downloading music?

96blazer... regardless of whether its legal or not, do you really give a shit if someone downloads music? you know its happening. you know Lars Ulrich complained. You know its mostly illegal. But do your really care? You've posted more than anyone in this thread but yet contributed nothing but what everyone knows. Im not saying its right, but does it really 'grind your gears' that much?

Re: Downloading music?

So basically you dont really give a shit, you just hate people who are bullshitting and thinking the feds are on their ass on s10forum. That works for me. Cheers buddy. Cause I agree. And as much as I want free music, I am not going to sacrifice my computer for limewire etc. i can listen to it all i want on myspace etc... without comprimising the computer. as far as burning it etc... i'd rather have real discs and jewel cases anyways.

I think I called him out on it... he answered pretty much as i expected and accepted and i dont see an issue at this point. If you dont see what he was getting at then your first mistake was posting the thread... if you do get it then, congrats and move on with life...

And long story short there isnt really a SECURE program that you can use that wont POTENTIALLY ruin your comp. Either risk it or pay to play the game.. . I think has been my thought process as well as 96blazer's

Re: Downloading music?

And on the same note I clicked the thread to see if there was a decent site as well... but I think where the issues/arguement came up was when we were trying to hide the fact that we are illegally trying to download music. Who cares. Its a forum. Just be honest, it'll get you alot further in life... I think is what 96blazer was trying to say.

...back on topic...

illegally downloading music is fun... where should i get it from?

Re: Downloading music?

If you ruin a computer downloading something, you're an idiot, it's common sense. They're probably the same people who manage to get their computers royally f'ed up within 2 months of buying it (said story refers to said friend).
