Where to get a good rag joint?

I was wondering is there a good place to get a replacement rag joint besides the dealer it like 260 from them. You can't just replace the joint it comes with the whole shaft. I have a 96 blazer by the way

Take it out and replace it with an old jeep cherokee steering shaft and get rid of the rag joints all together.

Re: Where to get a good rag joint?

Okay I dont understand how to do that, I have read everything I can find about it. I have the jeep shaft in hand but I dont see how the stock shaft attaches to the steering column so I havent taken the stock shaft out and actually tried. How does the stock shaft come off and the jeep shaft go back on? I can see how it attaches at the steering box its self, its only at the firewall connection I'm not sure of.

Re: Where to get a good rag joint?

If you don't want to put in a jeep shaft or a U-joint check the "HELP!" parts section at any parts store. They have rag-joint repair kits for ~$10. You just drill out the rivets holding the old piece of fabric in and then bolt in a new piece.

There's no way to take the old rag-joint off of the shaft without cutting it up - that's why the dealer only sells it as a complete setup.

So how do you do a jeep shaft then does it bolt right up or what? I was asking that in the first place if there was somewhere cheaper to get the rag joint assembly.

Rag joint
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-31000

simple search on here will give you the jeep shaft how to. Most the time its only $20-40 at a j/y and uses a u-joint instead of the crappy ass rag joint.
