Tubular A-Arms(not for bagging) and other fun Q's
So i have been searching lately, looking at A-Arms and things like that. Not to bag and drag, but for smallblock and drag(race).
What exactly is the purpose of swapping to tube arms? I know it will reduce unsprung weight and such but what else is the purpose of tube versuses stock arms? Mostly all i can find for unbagged vehicles is lower arms, what about uppers? Are they important, can i just order any tubular uppers to complete the swap, or should i save my money for something else and leave the stock uppers? Also, what is the benefit for rod ends? Where the arms mount to the frame they are adjustable(in and out), to set how wide your front track will be, i can see on a road course how they will improve handling and give you a wider stance so you can take a corner better, but for a mainly DD/weekend truck that will be driven for my entertainment on the streets would rod end arms be worth the extra 100-150 bux? Of course coilovers i know are to help with weight transfer, but how do they ride? Is it harsher than stock? Are they too soft for the streets? Like i said just for a street truck would i be better sticking with factory style coils and shocks? I have heard the G and F body arms are a good replacement, but i havent been able to find a clear answer of what is required in swapping over to camaro arms, and what kind of changes it is going to make to my suspension geometry. I have heard they are kind of a pain cause you have to do some fabricating to make them work, true? Just some wondering ive been doing and need to the know answers some day when i do my swap, its always good info to know. |

I'm running DJM 3" lower CA I didn't weigh them, but they are heavy as shit. For uppers, I have SSC arms. You can run any tubular upper you want, as it doesn't have jack to do with bags or springs. I got the tubular uppers because I fubar'd my stock upper by running over a year with no bushing.

Re: Tubular A-Arms(not for bagging) and other fun Q's
im not worried about lowering, im already lowered, ill make it work i have no worries about that i just want to know all this other stuff lol, im mainly going for the best handling street setup. Not going the bag route either, might later on but for now i want to hug turns, before anyone starts i know bags will handle better if tuned right, but its not in my budget right now and i dont want to mess with all of that lol
and if ur wondering the truck will be SBC, and mainly driven for my personal enjoyment and entertainment, but i want it to handle better than a stock s10 or minor things like swaybars, it will mainly stay on the streets but will hit a drag strip every now and then, but nowhere near enough to worry about getting a drag suspension, it will just be with the guys on a friday fun night or something like that |
