Travel from frame to axle in back?

I'm lowered 4-5 and it seems like I have a really small amount of travel from my frame to my axle in the back. I bottom out a lot. I have the bump stop brackets totally cut off. What do you guys have in terms of travel from the axle to the frame in inches? I'm thinking about trying other blocks to go to 4-4. Its a pain in the ass. Even when the road dips I bottom out.

Re: Travel from frame to axle in back?

stock tire size? bigger? low profiles? I had a 5/6 drop with 15" and stock rubber and had like 2" @ best, no where near enuff to have adequate clearance, a "c" notch is definately required, even if its a 2.25" notch for now.......

Re: Travel from frame to axle in back?

just try something like this, you will not have to cut up the bed and its hidden with minor cutting to the frame, gives you an additional 2.25" here is the ebay link, Bolt in C notch $46.00 free shipping

Re: Travel from frame to axle in back?

Damn I'd really rather not do anything to my frame since I don't plan on ever bagging it.

Re: Travel from frame to axle in back?

if you have already removed the bumpstops and you are still hitting there are only a couple options:

1- c notch , but you said you didn't wanto touch the frame
2- lift the back end up to allow for more travel

i know thats not what you want to hear but the bottom line is you have greatly decreased the amount of space between frame and axle so you have to expect contact.

3-air shocks
4-just some stiffer shocks than what are on there now

You can also get a small, round aftermarket bumpstop and put it directly on the frame. This will not prevent it from bottoming out, but will prevent it from being metal against metal when it does hit.
