leaf-over-axle with no lift

97 2dr 4wd Blazer.

Is it possible to do a leaf over axle conversion while only lifting the rear an inch or so? I would like to gain a small bit of ground clearance. Obviously, I would need new leafs. Anyone got any good ideas?

Re: leaf-over-axle with no lift

flipping the axle under the leafs is going to give you 5-6 inches...

doing a add a leaf will give you 2 or so inches and it will ride harder...

or do air ride techs air over leaf...

Yea I know about the 5-6 inches it will throw me in the air. I dont want that, I want maybe like one, one and a half inch of lift in the rear. Would leafs designed for dropping work? Thats what I was thinking.

Re: leaf-over-axle with no lift

I'd recommend picking up a set of lift shackles or air shocks if you're only looking for an inch or two. Before I lowered my truck, I had sagging leafsprings in the back of my truck from hauling too much weight over the years. I picked up a set of universal lift shackles at Pep Boys for like $25 that lifted the rear 2" and made the truck sit level again.
