How does this sound?

1998 zq-8 with DJM 2" springs up front (stiffened up quite a bit)
1" blocks in the rear

Going to add:
17x8 aluminum rims, mirror machine polished

http://discounttire.com/product/wheels/mbmvin.mm.xl.jpg
245/45-17 Kuhmo 711 HR tires

Energy suspension sway bar mounts, urethane, front and rear

Still has stock DeCarbon shocks, probably going to add Edelbrock IAS shocks in the rear down the road...

How does my setup sound? Handle like it is on rails?

Re: How does this sound?

sound alright, not sure about the handling, should handle pretty good, you might what to think about going lower though, especially in the rear, but deff. in front and rear, are you going for more of a rake stance? also i personally would go with a different tire, just my opinion, im not much of a khumo fan, i have them on my 20's, they are alright, i had them on my m3 and hated them, i had the 712's. you might want to also think about getting a sway bar.

Re: How does this sound?

Don't plan to go any lower- already 1" lower all around than standard ZQ-8.

Already has two (ZQ-8). Unless you mean aftermarket, which I've yet to find any bigger in diameter?

he's got a ZQ8 so he already has front and rear sways, also with the 2" drop coils and 1" blocks he will have an overall 2/2.5" drop so there shouldn't be much of a raked stance.

BTW img brackets removed from the first pic since it was so big

Looks like you are getting there. Can those wheels be had in a wider 9-1/2 and 11? Since you are getting new wheels anyway, you might as well get some serious meats on there.Do NOT use the Edelbrocks for performance driving, you wiil hate them. They did OK taming the rear of my road race style camaros and firebird but they are so far off on the rear of an S-10, it's like a mistake at the factory or something. I've talked to a few guys working with road course style trucks and they have the exact same problems with these shocks, right now Bilstein is the best thing out of the box and they cost less than Edelbrock. I'm custom valving a set of IAS, PM me if you are curious about what I find.

Re: How does this sound?

These specific wheels do not come wider than the 8" width, unfortunately. The only set I've seen that meets my fancy visually that come in 9.5 and 11" happen to cost TWICE the price of these wheels. So, I had to compromise in that regard.

From what I've been reading, Bilstein seem to be the go-to shock for these S-10's as far as handling goes.

I've heard this as well... I intend to lubricate the sway bars at the mounting points with some porous bicycle chain solution my father uses on his road bike... resists corrosion, moisture, and is supposedly resistant to break-down.

Re: How does this sound?

the red energy suspension bushings are the ones tha squeak after while.... the black bushings are impregnated with graffite so they are self lubricating and so should not squeak at all if any. I installed a complete set of these black bushings on my car. I only used the supplied urthane grease in the kit when installing them, and the bushings have yet to make any noise at all.

Re: How does this sound?

that sucker should handle real good. i just did a 2/2 drop on my 98 about a month ago except i used spindles in front. i plan on springs and shocks (again, put some kyb's on in jan.)to stiffen her up some. man she just rides different since i dropped it, softer.

Re: How does this sound?

if you do use the chain oil, do not get it on your brakes, they do weird things, on my brother bike he oiled the chain and the brakes would pulsate, once it was cleaned off it was fine, but it was scarry while it lasted.

yea i wouldnt use ANY oil on brakes,......

anyhow sounds good but i wouldnt do the kumho 711's, wear isnt that good on em. do the 712(same wear but better handling) or the KU-21's that last i knew had a 30k warrenty on them, plus handle GREAT, even in the rain (i have em now)
