Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
I have yet to understand why for the 94-2003 bodystyle they do not make a cowl hood anymore than a 2" cowl for it. Not to diss any guys out there with that 2" cowl, but I have always been a fan of 4 to 6" cowls because they look so much more aggressive, but there are no cowl hoods for those trucks that big. My question is this, why don't they? Or is it even possible to take a stock hood and mold a 6" cowl hood scoop on to a stock hood and make it look like anything at all? Hoping someone out there can give me some answers please!

won't give away the exact place but the guys I bought my last hood from were actually testing a 4" steel cowl for the 94-03 style, it kinda looked like a mix between the 1st and 2nd style goodmark, really sick looking honestly but they should be out soon if they're done testing on it

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
If there is no need for it than IMO it looks rediculous. I can fit a 454 under a stock hood/frame/fender s series I dont see a need for that much vision loss. when I drive, I want to drive. I dont want to accidently miss something because of a hood. If I dont have to give it up, because of an engine, to race...Than Im not going to risk it. Of course thats just my opinion.
But if all else fails, make one. |

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
thanks I did not even know they made anything bigger than a 2" I have never seen anyone ever have one bigger than a 2". I looked around a little bit and I did not see any of them. Next question is if anyone has ever had any problems with Harwood Brand? My dad at the time bought a hood for his 67 camaro and it was no way near close to fitting at all, but this was back in 90's so many things may have changed. anyone had any problem with there products?

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
Yeah that is true. I had two camaros that one I put a hood on and the other a body kit and for the most part they fit good, but I am sure no way near what a metal one would. my Xtreme I have set up to look like a muscle truck with skinny tires up front and some wide tires in the back so Fiberglass hood with hood pins would suite my idea perfect! haha Thanks for the help though guys I didn't know they made any bigger cowls for it. I appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
i have 4" cowl that i got got from up22.com it is fiberglass and was 4" tall but is more like 4 3/4" tall and their is no problem seeing the road. it is not really in the way for me but then again i have a 6" cowl going on my 79 firebird but that because i need the room for the intake and turbo piping.

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
Ive got a 4" cowl and no visibility problems at all, just the same as a stock hood Its not like you are sitting in the middle of the truck anyways but after 4" or so i sure it starts to get a little hard to see.

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
2" is plenty, its just for looks anyways, like 1fast4by said it kinda looks rediculous and theres no need for it. Ya dont need it for any clearance issues, so whats the point?

Re: Why Only a 2" Cowl Hood Made?
if you've got a hood that big, you better be compensating for something, otherwise, it just looks unproportional.
