I think they put the NO towing sticker on there because of the rear bumper design...
I have seen a hitch on an X but the licence plate flips up and there was a hole in the bumper for the hitch reciever.
Hell if I can tow a trailer with my 4 banger eagle talon, any chevy extreme can.
Finding a hitch to fit may be a real treat though.
Hidden hitch or Reese may have something

You definitely can't tow a 3500lb car with a Xtreme. It won't do it. Your rear bumber will be hitting the ground. The only thing you can tow would be like a light trailer with Jet Ski or Snow mobile or 4wheeler or something light like that. I wouldn't risk ruening my truck just to tow something. Drive the damn show car.

The Blazer X comes factory with a hitch. I was able to tow my 21' Scarab with it no problem. Up and down boat ramps. I beleive it weights upwords of 3000 lbs.

Dan P. A car trailer has a very heavy tounge weight. That is why. My boat has a tounge weight of about 270 lbs. If your going to tow long distances definatly get a trans cooler.

My wife's Trailblazewr has a towing capacity of 7200lbs. It pulls my boat like its not even there.

My car weights about 2300 i think, or close to it..

and i would be towing it about 400miles each way.. so the Trans cooler sounds like a good idea also..

i will give it a try and see what happens ....

thanx for all your help

Are you at stock height towing? Or did you lower at all with those rims? I want to pull a 1000lbs enclosed trailer for my Moto bikes and trying to figure out how to do it. I am getting a hidden hitch and trans cooler. Right now I am at 2/3 and want to go lower or get bags? How reliable would bags be towing?

Towing

I have a 2000 Xtreme and I pull a 18 foot boat weighing 3000 lbs and I dont have any problems at all. I had to install the hitch myself because installers see the sticker on the bumper or call the 1-800 GM number only to find out that it could void your warranty. I have had mine in for a few warranty problems and the dont say anything about the hitch and it is a big class 3 5000 lb hitch.

When I was towing my boat with my Blazer X it Didn't have bags. Now that it has bags and blocks in the rear I can't tow with it because the damn thing sitts too low even fully aired up.

hey i towed my boat with the back bumper on my X works fine there is no difference in the strength of the back bumper on an X or say a ZR2 there the same bumper and everything just cut out the hole where it says to on the bumper and throw on the ball and your set. as for the ones takin your X to have a hitch put on just peel off the sticker

my 2 cents

Okay now seriously... If this is a full body car with a decent size car trailer I personally think you would be nuts to tow this any distance at all with anything the size of an s-10. Not only will the motor be killing itself as will the suspension but good luck braking in any distance short of a football field. When is the last time you ever saw an s-10 towing a vehicle? yeah, I have never seen it either. No one vehicle can be all things to all people. The s-10 (xtreme or not) was not designed to tow anything heavy. Bikes and quads or jetskis fine... a 3500 pound car on a 1500 pound trailer? You WILL kill your truck. Here is another thought. The S-10 is not all that heavy itself. A full size car on a trailer has a tendancy to sway a little back and forth. If your back end isn't heavy enough it will cause your towing vehicle to pull side to side as well. I speak with experience. If you decided to do this you will have to upgrade your suspension... you will need a tranny cooler and you had better get electric brakes on your truck and trailer. Even then you will likely taker years off the life of your truck with every tow. If it was me... rent a uhaul and a car trailer. or find a friend with a truck more suited to towing.

Personally I will never use the bumber hitch. After a will your bumber hitch will look like **** from towing with it. My friends dad used his bumber hitch on his full size truck and his bumber looks like **** now, he has a real hitch on it now. I got the reese multi fit (class III) on my S-10X, it fits pretty good haven't really used it yet. If my S-10X can't pull my 10' foot enclosed trailer I'll be pissed off  , my el camino pulled the trailer pretty easy.

ok xtreme4life this is what you need to do in order to tow a car on a trailor. CRAIGLC doesnt have much faith in our truck but today i just pulled a 1500 lb trailor with a 3600 lb load on it. 5100 lbs total. NO problem. the trailer has 2 axles which is a must and brakes which is absolutley neccesary. its like i wasnt even using my brakes the trailor did it all. i dont have an X but you can get a reciever that bolts to the frame like i used to have and then go to AIR LIFT and they have a bag kit for loads specifically for your truck. you can also get a roll pan like i have now with a hidden hitch. up to you tho. but it is totally possible.

Hey here is a If you really want to know your max towing capacity, look in your S-10 book in your glove box. Mine said something like 5000lbs or so is the max trailer weight.
