STS Pulley Mod for 2.2 Xtreme

Hey all, I just wanted to post this for the fun of it. I have a 99 s-10 xtreme 2.2 5-speed with around 54000 miles. We just did the ebay acclaimed STS pulley mod. Well, I traded a few people some items to be able to run it on a dyno at the local tech college. 3 passes at stock and then 2 after my gibson exhaust, we found no change, but atleast it sounds good. However, after the STS pulley mod we gained 7hp on the 1st and 2nd run, and 9hp on the 3rd run. So rear wheel hp gain was between 6-10hp respectively!

-I am in the middle of installing my e-fan now, hoping that will help free up a little more hp and torque out of the "Red Baron" Anywho, I know I asked the question on what is the HP gains from this mod, so here ya go! Hopefully I can get another chance after the e-fan install.

-Oh, in case you were wondering, the K&N CAI only added 2hp at best, not really what I wanted to see

In case you were wondering, I didn't want to get into any head or motor work just yet, even though I know my biggest gains would be there, Gotta get this thing on the road soon! later...

the pulleys were around $118 shipped, and they were polished, a nice touch. They also came with a gatorback goodyear belt. A pretty good value I think

Re: STS Pulley Mod for 2.2 Xtreme

I just bought the same pulleys for my truck. I'm also lookin to do the efan mod. Again...sad that K&N adds 2 and the pulleys add 7. After a while I'll have to slap on Al's header. It's been sitting in the garage for a long time.

Re: STS Pulley Mod for 2.2 Xtreme

Do you have any before and after dyno graphs? Also, what kind of dyno did you use?

I would be really interested to see them!

I used a variable load dyno, yea, I can post them, I have them on a disk from the shop but I don't have the program to open them up on my computer. I'll see what I can find.
