Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

I just about to hit 48k in my truck and it is my daily driver. 04 bought it brand new. I refuse to let it ever be dirty, and I wash it every weekend and wax it every two weeks. As for my engine bay, I use water and a rag to clean it. I seen people use armor all to shine up the plastic parts and more but all it does is leave a damn slippery mess on everything when you go to work on it. Plus if it's plastic (or metal even for that matter) it's paintable, so if it looks like crap, paint it!

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

Back in June I bought a $100 detail service from a good car washing place, that is the only time my engine has been clean. Right now my Blazer is FILTHY. I live out in the sticks, and my house is the second from the end. Well at the end of the road they built 2 natural gas wells with dirt roads. Since I have to park the Blazer out side those roads just blow dust all the time so it is not worth it to try to keep it clean. One of these days we need to clean out the garage so I can start parking in it, but until then it rarely gets washed cause it gets so dirty so fast.

I'll go take some quick pics to show how dirty it actually is... I'm ashamed

First picture you can see the dirt roads the put in for the wells.

Here you can see my tails I did my self. I am not satisfied with them and whenever I get a second set of stockers I will send them to xtremegeek to get done really nicely.

This once hasn't seen snow with me yet, I've only had it since May. I hope this winter I don't have to drive it much, I don't want this one to get wrecked either.

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

That blue Buick you see in the reflection was what I was driving on REALLY bad days, and from the time of my accident until I found the Blazer. The day I actually flipped the truck X I didn't think it was THAT bad, I had driven it in worse the week before that when there was actually snow on the ground.

haha, yeah im so glad i got that sticker. i love it!

as for the paint, funny thing there... the hood, fenders, roof, and driver side cab are all factory. the bed (due to getting rearended), and front bumper (used to have molding... bought a new one and shaved the license plate holes), passenger cab (due to a break in) and obviously the wings west kit are all new paint. im just very careful with it and try to keep it as nice a possible. claybar, and waxing it often help. i love meguires quick detailer and cleaner wax... but ive also found a liking for turtle wax ICE liquid polish.

Im due for some new paint on the hood though, it's seen it's wear after 10 years now. Im gonna get that painted when i do the checkmate cover.

Plans for the spring include front bags, rag top, and maybe some composite headlights. Id like to throw a 2wd blazer rear end in there with posi and disks as well

I'm not a big fan of red, but that is one sexy truck. Props on keeping it clean, if you are gonna have a nice ride or honestly any car at all just to keep it in good condition, you gotta keep it clean. Most people don't do that it and that makes no sense to me, gets on my nerves.

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

Yep hardest part is keeping it clean. Black is a sexy burden. I don't have a garage where I am at now, but I got a cover for it. It keeps it clean until the weekend cuz it's covered when it's not being drove. I wash it on the weekends, clean the engine bay, and detail the inside. My truck looks good, but it looks 10x better when it's clean. And I need a friend to ride along beside me to take cruisen photos, I got no good pics of the truck in action! This is the cleanest my truck has ever been I think, couple months ago at a show, and yes that's factory paint hehe.

thanks a lot man! i appreciate hearing this types of compliments all the time, but it really is true that anyone can bag a truck and make it sick when you through some money at a project and most of all a lot of time. believe it or not....i had little to no mechanical know-how when it cames to car. i just researched the hell out of stuff and learnt everything in a lil over a year on here before i started. i still have this day have never even changed the oil on either of my cars lol. Ive never done car maintainence before and her i am doiing what i am doign now. although i have someone else doign the actualy welding work, but im still doing 90% of the project, its all the little stuff thats hard. welding is one skill to know how to do that i dont have, but everything else i have done on my project.

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

Yeah I'm a little scared to use the mig on my truck so I can shave everything. I haven't welded anything since high school shop class and I don't want to mess up my nice truck. My dad knows how, but I want to learn and do it myself. I too research alot of things and talk to guys on here to find out how-to and know-how so I can get done what I want. I've learned alot over the last two years and went from not knowing crap to being able to do all my work myself. I do all my work 100%, just because it saves so much money. Plus I don't trust those other grease monkeys at shops that value getting it done quick over quality. The body shop that fixed my truck didn't even do a half-ass job, it completely sucked. In all honesty, the amount you pay for parts usually equals the amount you pay someone to install or do the work for you for those parts. Much better off doing it yourself, and it's easier to talk about it to people to explain what you did and knowing you did it right, if you need to fix it having the knowledge, and just taking pride after it's done and standing back and looking at it. Complements from other people is what makes my day all the time and the stares of people while I drive by make me grin. I've had numorous people stop next to me at a stop light, even some old guys on harleys, and tell me nice ride. Best feeling ever.

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

I'd love to bag the Blazer, and may eventually down the road, but I'd much rather go with a static 2/3 with an LS1/T-56 first. I've been looking for a first gen to bag and throw a 350/350 combo in for my winter beater.

My whole theme for this Blazer is "Stock Upgrade", thats why the LS1. For it to be an Xtreme, in my opinion, it should have come with more than just a body kit. I think it should have come with an LS1 and other various upgrades that I am doing to it. I already have installed a factory touch screen navi unit out of a newer full size truck or 'burban or whatever. Soon to go on will be the 2/3 that's sitting in the garage to get a better stance.... I have been doing some research into tweeds to do the headliner and some various other interior pieces (similar to Seans [Xtreme24], but with a black and silver pattern so I don't copy exactly). And other things as I feel are necessary that I can't think of off the top of my head right now.

i'm not going to lie, if I could have afforded it, I would of had my truck done by a shop (full custom tubular back half) . The reason I do my own shit is to save money on installation. Now with experience I can make money off of other people who spend mommy and daddy's money.

There are just some things that we can't do because it's complicated. I'm sure through research and practice with some time you could pull it off, but when time isn't something you have and someone you know can do the job right, then it's the best thing for some people. And yes, mommy and daddy didn't fund 1 cent on my project. I bought my own truck (my first car) when I turned 18 with money I saved up over 4 years while getting ridiculed in high school for not having a car or license. Guess who showed up in a brand new truck for graduation? I'm sure I have the nicest car out of all of them now, plus I have another brand new car too. Navy pays us decent enough to have play money hehe. They just don't give us enough time off to do the work...

They just don't give us enough time off to do the work...
i hear ya, I love knowing that I payed for all my shit. All the 16 y/o's over here are all driving brand new full size diesels with huge ass lifts and expensive tires.

Re: Post pics of YOUR XTREME/ZQ8!!!

Yeah, parents wouldn't buy me anything, made me work for it. That was good and I realize that now. Plus if you go buy a kid a brand new nice car and it's their first one, just sit back and twiddle your thumbs when you get a call saying they wrecked it. People don't appreciate how nice things like a brand new car are and how hard it is to buy one. It's a big kick in the wallet, I know I straight up paid for both of my cars when I bought them. It's even worse when you own it and something goes wrong with them. More money outta your pocket and trade values suck these days.

i'm not gonna lie my parents bought my truck but i paid for every mod so far and i will pay for all the ones yet to come. and i'm not like those kids who **** off with daddy's money i take care of my truck,so much that my dad has jokingly threatened to sell it cause it takes up too much of my life lol. but i do have a lot of respect for people like you who saved your own money
