Well...i have seen some xtremes on here with the wheels painted. I been wantin too but i was debatin it. Well today i started to. I got the one side done and it looks pretty good.

Before...couldnt stand the peelin paint on the center caps

Primer

Paintin them up

I am gonna finish the other side tomorrow and take much better pics (no camera phone!!!!)

Thanks, no everywhere i taped off they got painted. no mess ups at all. I took my time on each wheel... cleanin, taping, primerin and painting. I didnt want them to look like poo

Thanks alot man. I am lovin them so much. Makes the truck look much better. I am thinkin about gettin some black headlights to match my corner lights. I think it would look good going with the wheels.

1. Clean the wheels with some wheel cleaner.
2. Taped off everything I did not want to paint
3. Lightly sanded the wheel.
4. Did a coat of self etch primer.
5. Did 2-3 coats of Acrylic enamel (paint store guy said Enamel paint was the best to help prevent chipping) gloss black spray paint.
6. Did 2-3 coats of clear And DONE!

Wasnt too hard at all. The only thing that took the longest was tapin up every thing that i didnt want black.

I used VHT Niteshades from Summit, you can use Testors model car tint as well...

I put on 1 coat let it dry, then a second, then a third.

Light even coats is the key...

Then after it was all dry I put three coats of Dupli-Color clear coat.

Actually very simple.

You can wet sand after the niteshade coats if you wish, I think it gives it a little more shine, but its just extra work I was not interested in.

Cost me less than $20.00 for everything.

Professionals like Jonstintedtails.com charge $100 including shipping...crazy,

I just reccemond getting your groove down on something else plastic and clear before hitting your tails.

Remember...the first coat you lay down sets the tone for the whole thing.

Theres no going back afterwards if you f-up the first coat.

And luminescence is not a problem...

Light reflects off them just fine, and you can see them well when lit.

I got an LED light bar to go between the roll pan and tailgate as an extra safety precaution. It lights up red when you stop, flashes on either side when turning and turns white when backing up.

I think it will keep the police off my ass and people from rear-ending me.

Considering I have no 3rd brake light.

And luminescence is not a problem... Light reflects off them just fine, and you can see them well when lit. I got an LED light bar to go between the roll pan and tailgate as an extra safety precaution. It lights up red when you stop, flashes on either side when turning and turns white when backing up. I think it will keep the police off my ass and people from rear-ending me. Considering I have no 3rd brake light.
