Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

to bad they dont make a tool to measure things that would be a good idea. just kidding i dont think they make a small enough size isnt it like 42 and 52 i dont think either will fit.

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

ok its 45 1/2 and its not a step side so maybe the 36 will work just measure the bumper or roll pan and how much of a gap you have.

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

Why do you keep posting in threads when you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Half the time its not even relevant to the topic....

Anyways man, your gonna have to do get a 48 inch one, and do a little modifification to get it to fit. I used a drill and drilled two pilot holes where the led bar met the sheetmetal on the sides where its about an inch too long on each side, then used a metal step bit to bore it out big enough to slide the led bar through each hole. When you order it youll also see it has a plastic flange thats about a half inch taller than the led bar itself, I myself trimmed that off on the sides where I needed clearance to fit just the bar through the holes and mounted it up on the roll pan like you would on any other vehicle.

Heres a pic for reference...

Hope this helps you out man, it can be done, just takes some creativity
Edit. my rollpan isnt all jacked up now like it is in this pic. I didnt have my screws in on the sides yet b/c I kept taking it on and off to test fit and drill my holes

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

haha, thanks man. I might be picking up a built 4.3 bored .30 over with full upgraded internals and a big cam for 200 bucks from a friend who built it out of the truck, sold the truck, and now its just taking up space and he doenst want it anymore, so I can't pass that up. But I won't be putting it in for a long time, just gonna sit in my garage now. Bags are first, haha.

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

Yup. I could never find one short enough either.

I decided to make one using a few LED bars from the Blazer 3rd lamps. But waterproofing was a factor and I didnt like the results of my ideas. So I scrapped the plan and made those same Blazer LED bars into a rear-window monted unit.

Sorry for the not so great pic. Only one I had apparently of it on the truck. The rest of the pics are build pics of it.

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

I also ran mine in my back window for a couple weeks until I could figure out a way to put it under the tailgate, heres a pic of it to for reference. Some people like it just as good in the rear window as they do in the rear, but I wanted mine where its supposed to be....

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

Im probably gonna try and flip it locally. I wouldnt mind having it in my truck, but my truck is my daily, and I don't have anything else to use if it was down for a motor swap. I just dunno how much it would be worth, hes also giving me his set of longtube headers and x pipe and a MAF sensor and a few other goodies that are worth 200 dollars alone. Id say I could probably flip it for about 1000

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

Sure. It was pretty simple and I used materials I had.
The way I mounted it, I had to either modify or remove the panel under the rear window. So I used some leftover black carlet from the sub box build and draped it over the back using Super33 3M sprayglue.

Link to it. Ask any questions..PM me

Shorts10owner, How did you have that mounted on the inside of the rear window??(any pics?) I kinda like it there....plus it would help make me more visible cuz my taillights are tinted pretty dark.

Re: LED Light Bar for xtreme stepside

haha, its funny you ask that. I literally just found 3 nails I had laying in the shop, and just wedged em between the plastic trim piece to hold the bar up, But it was only like that for like two weeks at most, so I didnt care, i knew it wasn't permanent. I have no idea how you could make it look clean from the inside though....just will take some creativity and modification
