Dragging Your X
this is strictly for the Xtreme guys who drag their shit.
i'm figuring most of the guys who do drag, likely drag blocks, but has anyone else found something to use? i'm facing the choice of dragging blocks, but not being able to lay out completely with them on. OR. not havethe blocks on at all time and not have the freedom of draggin whenever i feel like it. any tips/suggestions. cuz if i can't drag this truck, i'm gonna sell the kit and drag frame. thanks for the advice guys. |

Re: Dragging Your X
anything you mount below your side skirts will keep you from laying out. Thats kinda of obvious don't you think. The only thing you could do is make a drag bar and mount it to the rear of your frame and raise the front and drop the ass end. This will minimize on how much it keeps you from laying out. It sounds like your wanting something that doesn't make since. If you mount something below your kit, of course it will keep you from laying out, it just depends on how much below your skirt it is, whether that is 1/4 of and inch or 4 inches. Its all how you mount your blocks, balls or drag bar. I just use balls and some brackets i made. Is your truck even bagged?

Re: Dragging Your X
ditch the kit and lay frame. I have drag blocks welded to my frame and they keep me from laying out. Especially when they were new cause there were about 3 inches tall. Now I've drug them down to where there is about 3/4" left.

Re: Dragging Your X
why don't U read more thoroughly next time and perhaps read up in the baggin section before asking questions like this. I was just trying to help. I HAVE a bagged X and Do drag so i thought i could help. It just SEEMED the you were asking a obvious question. And "clearly if its lower than the skirts i couldn't lay out" then why are you asking about blocks then? Read up on draggin before getting on my ass when i was trying to help. Use the search button and look for Drag bar. Good luck... |

Re: Dragging Your X
indigo, it seems as though your idea of laying out means no daylight and it sounds to me as though you would be happier if you get rid of the kit. if you want to lay out, you need to keep in mind that it is hard on the kit and the wear shows over time. you are never going to be on a perfectly level service, so there is going to be pressure from the weight of hte truck on the kit and it begins to push out and away from the truck. the only way to fix prevent that is to tighten the supports holding the kit on and the end result of that is stress cracks.
depending on where you are from, and i say this because of where i live, the paving of the streets is another aspect to keep in mind. at night time, when you are cruising and lay out your truck with a kit to drag, you have to watch out for the pot holes and ripples in the road. all it takes is a small one to rip off chunks of the kit if you are going to sit that low. just some food for thought. if you are going to invest the time and effort into laying out with a kit now, it is going to be an ongoing effort everytime you set your truck down. |

Re: Dragging Your X
If you want to drag, you have a couple options...
1. mount the drag blocks/balls at the rear. You can hang the ass to drag and keep the front just barely off the ground. When you lay out, the front will be on the ground, the rear blocks will be on the ground, and if you mount your ish right, the back kit will only be a little bit from the ground. 2. Mount drag blocks anywhere, then when you lay out, you will sit on them, not crush the kit, and can drag level. 3. Take the kit off, drag your frame, lay out flat, but still have the body several inches of the ground b/c you don't have a body drop. Which in the end will make your truck look higher. (I don't like this option btw) You just have to pick one. Simple as that. Mainly, it depends on how flat you want to be, and how you want to drag, but the decision is yours. Re: Dragging Your X
some people have it so they can layout fully and still drag, most of them do it so they put a bar infront of the rollpan and then all they have to do is lay the ass out and put the front up and drag.

Re: Dragging Your X
if you just drag the kit off its a good excuse to bd it!
you can't lay out with drag blocks, but if you make a drag bar at an angle so when the ass is just slammed it will drag and still lay completely out. xtremes look good layed out but suck at draggin haha.
