you don't, the spindles will not change the amount of clearance between the LCAs and frame |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
i know some people have asked on here about the rear bumpstop. i have an xtreme that i lowered only the rear with 3" blocks (flat, and yes i did have some major vibrations, i have since removed the blocks). i did not remove the bumpstops and i did bottom out alot and sometimes so hard i thought i crushed my spine, but all and all i loved the look of the truck with the stock zq8 front and zq8+3" block rear. kinda made it look like the guys with bags that ride around with the front up and rear down. just a little info some people might find helpful!

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
How much tire rub do you get with those 18s? and what size tire are you using? I want to do this but put ither 18s or 20s on and am trying to figure out what size tire and rims i should go.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
Hey guys I just got an 01 Blazer extreme and I'm going to do the 2/3 drop. For the blazer, should I get the angled blocks or are the regular blocks fine? Also, I am new to the whole "chevy lean", any one out there have have any in put as to wheather or not I should get the spacers even for a blazer, not sure if they get the "chevy lean" or if its more the trucks. Thanks for the help.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
I dropped my xblaze lower than you plan on doing. I used angled blocks and yes I would get those too. Heard lots of people that used straight ones and had some major vibrations cruisin down the road. As far as the lean. I got a spacer and forgot to put it in when I did my drop. I can't really tell if it is leaning or not, doesn't look like it. Do you need one? Up to you. I'm sure if I measured ground to fender I would find out mine is lower on one side.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
So I my truck sits stock right now, Its an 00 Xtreme and i wanna lower it 2/3 seems decent enough, but my questeon is with stock wheels and tires should it rub after an alignment? And if it does where? Rubbing sounds like something to worry about and i dont wanna F something up, i love the look of the drop but im not sure if its worth the risks if there are any that is . . . i worry a lot lol. Ive wanted an Xtreme since 8th grade now that ive saved and finally got one as a graduation presant i dont wann screw it up.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
So here's my deal. My neighbor sold his ext cab S-10, and I bought his 2/3 drop kit. It was an extended cab, mine's an extended cab. The blocks are completely square all around, so I assume when he bought the kit back in '01, he didn't know he needed angled ones. I guess it's obvious if they're angled?
I have a rattle/rub/grind sound, that makes a constant sound when I'm at a constant speed, it sounds almost rotational when I slow down (it slows when the truck does), and starts to make noise as soon as I get going. It doesn't feel like something is knocking or anything, just simply the sound of rattle/rub/grind. Definitely from the rear end. Got the rear drums machined today, still there. I'm trying to figure out if it's do to having a tonneau cover with no tailgate (currenty being shaved), and maybe something it rattling, no idea. But yeah, it might be a heat shield or something stupid, but the fact it sounds like a rotational noise when I slow down leads me to believe it's something in the rear end. If it's the blocks (or even if not) I have access to a machine shop, so I could angle the blocks myself, see if it works, and go from there. Thanks in advance. |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
look at your driveshaft, there is whats called a dust shield (??i think thats what it is) on it at the front...... it looks like a half circle at the front of it, check to see if that lost its seal if you dont see it, just bang around a bit at on your driveshaft to see if it rattles... if so grind the bastard off and carry on with your life.
that happend on my truck, and it showed a lot of the same symptoms yours is showing |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
Thanks for the help guys. Turns out it was this stick (more of a branch actually) that got itself stuck between the heat shield, gas tank, and was resting on the driveshaft. Pulled it out, and the sound was gone.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
its not going to to change it much at all. hell s10s lean when the tank of gas is full... so your tires will never wear even. lol worse comes to worse, clean your tires very very good, then drive into some sand and roll out, if the sand hits your tire it makes a lighter color on the tire, when it doesnt come in contact its just still black.. check to see if theres any uneven wear that way, or just chekc on your tires everyonce and a while. if they look like they are wearing shitty take it back to the shop and say they did a shitty job and you want them to do it again. lol |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
Hi, Just bought a 2002 ext. extreme and drove it from atlanta to chicago. To put it simple, it drives really bad.
1. The rearend vibrates while accelerating so I guess it's the rear blocks that isn't angeled. 2. But worse is the frontend wich makes a "metal-metal vibrating, like something is loose sound" on the drivers side, it only happens when i drive on bad asphalt etc. 3. When crusing on the highway it's a pain to keep straight and the car is very bumpy. The frontend feels loose, there's around 1" freemovement on the steeringwheel. I'm sorry but I'm from Norway so I have some problems finding the words sometimes. Hope "freemovement" does the trick for you. As you can see on the pic, it has an unlevel lowering. It's very low in the front compared to the rear. I was thinking this could cause the problem with the feeling of a loose frontend and bumpy riding experience. Maybe worn out shocks and bushings from driving in this angle? hope you guys could help me out. http://img110.imageshack.us/my.php?image=b57412ug6.jpg Last edited by Killerzmurf : 01-02-2008 at 10:02 PM. |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
k where to start.........
you need to check to see if those are the stock zq8 springs in there, or if they are aftermarket, also check to see if it has lowering spindles on it.. i wanna know how it was lowered up front. (springs or spindles) the front end movement means you need new upper and lower control arm bushings im about 99% sure... while your in there go ahead and replace the idler arm and check the pitman arm too. that will fix the loose feeling.. check your tie rods as well. this should also explain the metal on metal feeling... no bushings = metal on metal. from your picture it looks like there may only be a 2" block in there??? measure it to see for sure and you can easily tell if they are angled or not just by looking at them.. worse comes to worse take a picture of it and ill tell you how much of a drop the block is and if its angled. let me know if you need anything else it looks to me to have a 2/2 drop on it kevin Last edited by HAWK : 01-06-2008 at 03:16 AM. |
