Hawk,
I've been to Cali several times over the years and I know what you mean. Here in Ohio we have the same issues, but the roads are not as flat as yours. It's like ride'n a fricken roller coaster at times out here. You know how it is.................. You wanna play...........you gotta pay !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
so by going with a 2/3 drop (spindles and blocks) does one need to replace the shocks too? I got 108,XXX miles. Feels like they may be starting to get soft.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
i have an 01 xtreme extended cab and from reading this thread i am 100% sure i have the wrong drop blocks on it...could having the flat drop blocks on an extended cab be the reason for a sort of metal on metal noise that i get on the highway between speeds of 40-65 mph?? anyone got a set of angled 3 inch drop blocks for an s10 xtreme they wanna get rid of?

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
hmmm i dont think that noise would be caused by the blocks.... what you will notice if you have the wrong blocks may be driveline vibrations while accelerating....
(feel a bit of a shake coming from the rear end) im not really sure what the metal on metal noise is..... so it starts at speeds 45 and ends at 65? can you provide anymore details? whereabouts of the noise? only on hard accele.. while hitting the brakes...... anything? |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
check your pinion angle and install pinion shims if needed.....regardless of whether this is what is causing your noise or not, it still needs to be done to prevent breaking u-joints.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
yep you are right.... 3" NON angled blocks are ideal for your truck...
no drop shocks are needed, only reason to buy new shocks is if your old shocks are shot.. |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
does your truck feel bouncy when you drive and hit bumps?
usually you can push down on each corner of your truck and see how many times is bounces back. should only do a bounce and a half if the shocks are good. shimming: you can adjust the angle of your pinion with shims to get it properly aligned with the tranny output shaft. if its out of align, you will feel bad vibration. the "shim" is basicly the difference between a strait block and an angled one. all the angled block does is correct driveline alignment. in my case, i put 3" strait blocks in, and also 2* bronze shims (i could have run angled blocks) |

basically i dont hope they fly out and kill you either.. lol
take your time.... swerved do you have an xtreme or just regular s10? before you install that kit, let me know.. cuz if you have an xtreme and you want a 2/3 drop, you need spindles NOT springs.... |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
they include shocks with those kits because most people don't know that you don't need them and it's a way for them to make more money. And it's too late now but when installing just spindles you don't even have to take the springs out, just keep the LCA jacked up enough to keep the pressure on the springs.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
I lowered my truck tuesday, I'll post pics tomorrow, its looking just how i wanted it to, and is driving smooth. I got the whole lot done in about 6 hours front and back so I was pleased! And yeah you were right about the front shocks grndscrpr I just changed the spindles first and then i just dropped the shocks out from the springs and switched them.

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
Sorry I know this thread hasnt been touched in a month but i figured it would be better to post my question here on this topic than making my own topic..
Exactly a month ago I got my drop parts in the mail and that very same day before I could get my spindles and blocks on I got rearended. The collision place told me that I needed an alignment and did the alignment... Now my question is after I put my 2 inch spindles and 3 inch blocks on the Blazer X will I still need an alignment even though I just got one on monday.. I didnt put my 20's on yet but Im going to after I get them balanced and that fun stuff..So for now with the stock rims will I need a alignment after I drop it?? Help a brother out ![]() |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
yup you will need to get another alignment.. lol
you basically taking off the whole front end and eyeballing it back on.. its a must to get the alignment done unless you want horrible tire wear |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
i have had mine lowerd for 4 years. the rubbing your getting is from when you turn. if you have the x-tream like i got you will notice that the fender flares is where its rubbing. there like 3' wide from the out side to the tire. mine has rubbed from turning and its like 1/2' now. so it will go away. mine hasnt rub to the out side and im running a taller tire...60 series. i just bagged the front this last week and im really nervous about it. this is my first time with bags... |

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
what you can do is trim down the inner flare a bit.. thats what we did on mine to allow for more turning at a lower PSI..

ehhhh u will lose some turning radius for sure..... and on large bumps expect some major rubbing on your front fenders, maybe even rear fenders if you have a fleetside

Re: All of your 2/3 drop info here!
i measured ... i have like 1 1/2 in clearance in the front and about 2 1/2 in the back . i just want to take away some of the space between the wheel and the fender . maybe do a 1" in drop in the front and a 2" in the back . whats the best way to do that ?

heck yes, just ordered me up sum belltech spindles and blocks..$198.85 shipped
only concern is how badly my 245/35/20 will rub..i will be completely removing the rear bump-stops. Q: what do i need to do to the front bumps, do i cut them totally off also? i see that at stock ride right now they are already touching... L8R |

i didnt touch my front bumps, but i wouldnt cut them all off.... leave some rubber on there
![]() as for the rear, cut it all, bracket and rubber... use a sawzall and go to town... then put some rustoleum paint on it |
