Re: Syclone vs. Sonoma GT

You can find sogt's pretty cheap. I have seen them from a grand on up. I almost bought one 2 years ago for 1800. It was a little beat, but all the sogt specific stuff was in ok shape, just the sheet metal needed work. A sy is going to cost you at least 5-7 grand for a truck that needs some work. A nice one that is ready to run is going to cost you 8-10 and a mint between 15-25 grand.

I have been looking for another so gt, there were fewer(806) sogt's than sy's, but they were not treated like rare trucks, many are beat up so they are cheaper to pick up. Just look for one that has all the cladding. The bumper cover is the same as the sy/ty's but the bumperettes in front and the rear bed cladding, and side skirts are all specific to sogt's and can cost you if you need replacements.

The Sonoma GT is the syclone for the "cheap bastard". Same Interior, 4.3 L-35 Cpi vortec (Non Turbo), 2wd with 3.42 posi trac, w/ limited slip option, Sonoma Gt has same front fascia and roll pan, with unique side cladding.

Re: Syclone vs. Sonoma GT

Those SOGT's would need to have super low miles and be flawless both inside and out to fetch 11K. Well maintained syclones with low miles are going for around that price now give or take. Check syty.net in the classifieds, there are a few there if you want to look at going rate prices. I'd also expect to pay more than 1800 for one though too. The cladding alone in good shape is worth a couple grand.

There is one on craigslist in ohio right now for 900. Its in decent shape too. You just have to look for them. I dont think I have ever seen a sogt go for 11 grand though.

Re: Syclone vs. Sonoma GT

it depends on whether the seller knows what he has or not, the sonoma gt's are rarer than the sy/ty's

Yeah but rare doesn't automatically equal more worth(like that ss 1984 in the other thread). I want a so gt for a daily, I just found one here in town but its a teal(blechhh) It is intact though, just needs some new paint. Its worth really comes down to the buyer.

Gt's are good trucks. Exactly 808 were made & most of them were driven into the ground, which makes them even rarer. A teal one eyy? Where do you stay?

806 if I remember right, but not that important. Your right though most people did not treat the gt's as anything special and alot were driven hard. I looked at one a few years back (#468) and nearly bought it, if the guy had had the title with him when I looked at it I would have driven it home. He sent me some pics that looked pretty good so I drove 6 hours to look at it. It was nothing like the pics, needed bumperettes and a new bed since it looked like he hauled cinder blocks with it. The front of the bed touched the cab. It would have been a project but it was only 1800 dollars, but the more I thought about it the less I needed a project at the time, I was in the military and didnt have much free time. I still want one, someday I guess. Need to finish up my typhoon project first. Here is a pic of the teal I took as I drove past, it needs a little freshening up but its all there. That patch below the driver oor handle is primer gray, the door paint is in rough shape but the rest isnt bad. Its in Yakima WA
