properly identifying a 92 SonomaGT?

hey guys im looking at buying what looks to be a 92 Sonoma GT that seems to be missing some things....front bumper cover and fender extensions are missing from what i can see in the pics posted in the guys for sale ad. he's asking $1000 for it saying it runs and drives just needs a freeze plug and maybe intake gasket. with the front cladding missing is there any sure fire ways to verify it is a GT and not just an S dime with a body kit?...it does have the GT specific interior(gauge cluster, console, shifter, bucket seats) but i want to know if there is a way to make sure it is a true GT and not some shadetree redneck conversion.

Thanks, Keith

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonoma_GT

specifically...

Quote:
The Sonoma GT was based on the production 2wd GMC Sonoma truck. It was a regular cab, short bed model. Modified by Production Automotive Services (PAS inc.) of Troy, Michigan, the Sonoma was equipped with a special Syclone style interior package with red piped seats, floor shift console, special gauges, and a soft tonneau cover. The truck was then lowered and equipped with a 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission (also called the 4L60). All Sonoma GTs were produced with a 3.42 rear axle ratio, with the G80 limited slip option. Sonoma GTs were rated to haul a payload of 950 pounds.
