ALERT: 1992 GMC Typhoon #1377 - STOLEN - Nashville TN

The Typhoon was stolen this weekend from the repair shop.
Was allegedly spotted on Sunday around 6pm near Nolensville Road / Harding Place being driven by a black male.

Color: White/Grey with PAS Sticker on Front Windshield and Rear Hatch Window
VIN: 1GDCT18Z4N0811377

Gauges are aftermarket Speedhut with "Typhoon" across the Speedometer. Gauges are black with white numbering.
Will be missing front drivers side pillar (was going to be installing pillar gauge pod)
Aftermarket Sony XPlod Stereo
Missing "window sweep" on interior passenger door.
Aftermarket rear, "deep well" speaker housings
New motor with pictures listed below (the white painted parts are custom and would be a good identifier)

I wouldn't be so pissed off if the motor wasn't pulled and rebuilt this past winter. FML.

Re: ALERT: 1992 GMC Typhoon #1377 - STOLEN - Nashville TN

UPDATE: TYPHOON HAS BEEN RECOVERED!

Okay, it's been recovered but I have yet to view it.

The towing company picked it up from the front of a business. It's the same towing company that we use for our lot, and they knew immediately whose vehicle it was so they took it back to the repair shop.

The cops were still there, but said that it had to go to Impound because the report had already been submitted into the system and the Auto Theft Unit needs to do their processing of it.

I went to impound, and they said that until it's released by Auto Theft, I can't view or touch the vehicle.

Through word of the tow truck driver and the repair shop, it seems as if they joy rode it.

The following are currently UNCONFIRMED reports of damage (until I can view it):
1. Allegedly had oil and coolant underneath it when it was towed from the business
2. Drivers side window is smashed out
3. Steering column is ****ed.
4. Stereo stolen
5. "damage to the dash"
6. Passenger seat "broken"
7. "Grass" stuck in the cladding/under carriage (indicating they took it off road)

So, it's sitting in impound until I get the "all clear". From there, I guess will have it towed out of there and taken back to the shop so that the damage can be assessed to see how bad it is.

man sucks what happen, even if they took it for a joyride and screwed it up atleast you are going to get it back, thats not just a blazer that can be replaced, that things looks flawless and wish you all the best of luck getting it back to the way it was or better then it was before, at least they did not cut it up and sell the parts off.

Re: ALERT: 1992 GMC Typhoon #1377 - STOLEN - Nashville TN

Kinda/Sorta/Not Really
I have started gathering parts.
Appraiser has already looked at the truck. Waiting to hear from them on what they are going to propose as an initial settlement. It's being done in "2 parts" - Physical damage and drive-train damage.
The truck is running now, but there's engine noise and oil pressure readings are pointing towards bad bearings. FML!
Oil, transmission and transfer case fluid samples being sent to Blackstone this week once their "kits" arrive here.

Re: ALERT: 1992 GMC Typhoon #1377 - STOLEN - Nashville TN

Yep.
Also, forgot to mention, this is a brand new rebuild as well. Was pulled last December, completely rebuilt and dropped back in this April. Only have 1100 miles on the rebuild. The last 210 of which were when it was stolen. They didn't take it to go on a Sunday cruise...they took it and boost launched the shit out of it and ragged it as much as they possibly could.
If I find out who it was, they'll be walking around with 2 broken hands for a while.

Re: ALERT: 1992 GMC Typhoon #1377 - STOLEN - Nashville TN

That is a gorgeous Ty, it is beyond messed up that someone would have the gall to steal and abuse such a pristine and rare truck. It's crap just like this that makes me not even want to try and have a nice truck anymore. I am just glad to hear that you got it back, although I know it is no where near as satisfying as if they had been able to identify and/or arrest the person responsible for stealing it.

Breaking elbows works so much better, then they have to get somebody to wipe their butt for 4 to 6 months while they heal

Forget that. Put a rope over a tree limb and let gravity do it's job! If you haven't been over to turbobuick we've got a TY/SY forum sections as well and I'm sure some of the members there would be more than happy to help you with it.

As an aside, the GS nats were held last weekend and a total of 5 GN's were stolen. Two on truck and trailer rigs and the Bowling Green PD haven't done a damn thing about it so far.You got yours back so I'm happy to hear it and I know how hard it is to start from scratch with the damage to the body/chasis and driveline.

On another note, I used to live in Columbia and smurfreesboro and I think I saw you Ty quite a long time ago when I lived up there.
