are hydros hard on a vehicle... i have heard stories where you have to box the frame in and reinforce the hell out of an s10. then the people that didnt do it had a twisted frame and a completely undrivable vehicle. is any of this true.

i have the oppurtunity to buy a set of hydros and was just going to use it to raise and lower my truck, not to hop or any of that stuff.

Re: vehicle strain

I would play it safe and box the whole thing, cut out the gay ass sheatmetal factory crossmembers and use box tubing. I even went as far as to run a v from my carrier bearing crossmember to just in front of the rear wheels. I could tell a night and day difference after I did this. I was kinda scared cause I have an ext cab. I remeber seeing one guy with an ext cab s10 with no reinforcement done and man did he twist that frame up after 1 summer of 3 wheeling. Nothing like 3" of shim on one side of the bed so the body lines match up.

Re: vehicle strain

if yo aernt massive hopping you dont have to worry about reinforcing too much, like maybe just hoppin a few inches. If you plan on ANY 3 wheeling i would reinforcement. Bent frame sucks. Remember if you bend your frame your truck is more or less considered totaled. Then when you sell it someone, they could get pissy and take you to court. Just doing a few moves, no biggy. But if you have access get it done. All you need is a good welding guy, he doesnt really have to know anything about suspension or cars, all he is doing is plating more or less.

NO you need to do the whole frame if you plan on doing either.... you can get away with out doing so when you are only useing it to lift and lower...

3 wheel is usaully worse than hopping anways, in 3 wheel you are twisting the frame, look at how many of those air ride guys hop with no mods. Well this being a street car anyways. Competition is a whole different story

if you can do it yourself then wrap it, if not I would just get it boxed. It should be boxed up to the back of the cab from the factory anyways. This will save you some time, just pull the bed, dont have to worry about the cab. Most of the stress will be either right over the axle or torwards the center of the frame

Re: vehicle strain

i'd wrap the frame up to the cab, do the lower a-arms, and the rearend. thats all i done on mine, got a little less than a grand to do that. chain restraints are goin on the front like next week. i cant wait...... but yeah, if yur gonna 3 wheel it at all, yur gonna need to box the frame in so you dont have to deal with a twisted frame. after 4 in. of twist, the truck is useless.....
