upper a-arms

quik question about notching stock upper control arms....just notch out enuff for the cylinder to clear?....correct?....also do i have to reinforce them in anyway?...onne other thing is inside the spring pocket is little tinny stabby things that once held the stock coils in place do i leave those there or cut them out?....does the donut sit on those or is it supposed to sit right up against the frame...doesnt look to safe just chillen there....please help..

Re: upper a-arms

You must use the donut, or you will destroy the cylinder nut, and possibly pull it through the frame. Sounds like you need to shorten your coil a bit. Also, when notching your control arm only remove what is neccessary, you don't want to weaken the arms too much. You shouldn't need to reinforce them afterwards unless you are trying to hop it. And for the bag it comment, come on, just cuz you have bags doesn't automatically mean it will lay. You have to have the correct length cups, just like you need the correct length coil spring under a hydro setup.

Re: upper a-arms

are your lower arms dehumped? the humps may be hitting the frame or the lower arm can hit the frame in one of the pockets where they mount and you'll need to trim the frame to allow the arm to travel more. i have the djm drop lower arms on my truck with 4 turns and 6 inch cylinder and it lays out

Re: upper a-arms

these are what i have on my truck, the spring pocket is lowered 3 inches to give a 3 inch drop when using factory coils but in my case i use them to be able to get 3 more inches of coil up front than i would be able to if i used stock a-arms.
