Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
looks good man, will your design be kinda like running accumulators on a juiced truck? the bags allowing a ''cushion'' to absorb the roughness that hydraulics are soposed to be known for. i dont have accumulators on my truck and it rides better on cylinders than when it was a 5/6 static so i dont know if i will add them down the road or not. but anyways keep up the good work.

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
no auctually it will not function like that really. The air bag will function like a spring normally does in a hydro setup. But instead of having a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton...or 1 ton.....i can adjust it to any spring rate i choose. An accumulator will have a nitrogen charge that will apply back pressure and instantly dampen the suspension.....
An airbag acts similar to a coil spring. and an accumulator being applied acts similar to a shock. just having the air bag with my setup will not let it function like an air bag, the air bag will just support the weight and absorb some of it......adding an accumulator will auctually dampen it and smooth it out. I will also be running accumulators with this setup. Last edited by ZEROpsi : 01-28-2007 at 10:09 PM. Reason: my dick feels like corn |

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
Im not quite sure ware i left off on this last.......alot of my pics got deleted from the origional server....so here goes.....
update pics: got the cantilever arms, and the bushings for the cantilever. I machined the bushings for these myself. I bought a chunk of delrin materail, I used to use it alot at my old work for rod ends and what not, and they hold up very well, and last a looong time really, they are alot harder than polyurethane, but i think they will work well for what i want to do. I just cut them down to size and machined the lip on my lathe. the brackets I designed on CAD and sent out to be lazer cut, they turned out great! but, i should have the canti together this weekend! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() eh, got some work done. the hardest point is getting everything aligned properly so that it stays bind free through its entire travel arc. I probably had it set up with 30 different bar legnths and natural arc points, and in finally found what worked best. I also figured out a way to get a few extra inches of lift out of everything.....idk what i was thinking when i designed those brackets, but the center mount point should of been higher than the lift source mounting point.......so i fixed that and i will take care of that left over hole later. I also got all my link bars and wishbone off the truck and offically cleaned and ready to drop off at chrome.....which is finally this week. enjoi chrome time! ![]() ![]() pictures of the cantilever at full drop: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pictures of 4" of lift at the cylinder = 10" of lift at the axle.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() just overview pics of everything ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
i'm really interested in this air springs and hydros setup. are you going to have a complete air management setup as well, or just going to fill with a show compressor. also, are you planning on air/hydro for the front too?

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
i will not be having a complete air setup to control this, maily because i just dont have any room to put it on the frame anyware, I may possibly add a simple compressor to fill it to whatever psi i want, and then, use dump valves to adjust that when needed, but i wont have a tank, multipule compressors, and multipule valves and the whole deal. Maybee on my next project, and i can plan for the layout of everything, but on this ride its not gonna happen. taylor |

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
awesome work man! So i take it the bags are to dampen the hydro's? It looks like a real interesting setup.

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
The bags act solely as an adjustable rate spring, instead of a fixed rate. That means i can tune the ride style to that particular day.....if im going to be at a show most the day, or just doing short cruises (which will be most the time) the bags will be filled with a higher psi, to get a more ridgid ride so i can ride o-so-superlow without having any floating, and keeping from bottoming out at all.....Or when im going to be going on a more casual ride, was i may not be driving slammed all the way thare, and may be at a more commor ride height, i will run a medium pressure in the bag, so that it will give me a softer spring rate and have s softer ride, and maybee alittle float. I will also be running accumulators on this setup, and those will be what is dampening my ride. |

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
update eh...... lol got some update with chrome and what not.....I know its early in the game for chrome, but i wasnt planning on having the chromer get it done so fast......he quoted me a few months, and had it done in a few weeks lol....o well, it looks perty. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() also, got most of my cab floor constrcted, and framed it. Im just bascly making a skeleton on the inside for it while its on the frame, then when i send the frame out for powdercoat, i will have a little more room in the garage and will beable to weld the rest of the floor up and put some sheetmetal on it and make the firewall and what not..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ive gotte alittle work done in the past few weekends, i wish i had actually gotten more done, but ill take what i can get. since i couldnt find a new bed in my price range....i had to try and salvage the one had. Word of advice, dont stand your bed up on end for any long amount of time....tweaking occurs, and it takes forever to get back to strait. I knew i didnt want to run any sort of inside to my bed, just a tubing shell and mount it to the frame like that. On the top rails i just flushed up tubing to that when i filled the gap in with welds, it would smooth out flush with the bed top, and give it a nice rounded look on the top side. again with this, i just want my basic frame installed, then when i take it off the truck and send the frame out for PC i can do all the final welding and tube placment everyware. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: My Backhalf, and juice install......
the bender is a JD2 Model 3 bender. Its a great bender....with the dies and everything its about 800$ total, but worth every penny. Every bend on my truck was done with this bender. At work we use a JD2 Model 4 bender. Its even more kick ass. JD2 is the place to be when it comes to buying a bender, it really dont get much better for any other bender on the market for under 5k. |
