is it possible??

i'm sitting here and it's late at night and i'm thinking about my future set up once my sf bd door dragger is done.. is it possible to do a canti with juice? i know cylinders have to go straight up and down.. but if there is a power ball attatched to a bracket attatched to a 4 link bar... could you get hella lift out of a 6in cylinder?? or would it f up the cylinder and bind? my problem is i'm afraid if i do a over the axle set up with a 8" cylinder that i will end up having the top of the cylinders come above the bed rails.. i want to be able to pu ta tonneu cover on when i'm done to avoid the po po. just a thought.. any pics or info is greatly appreciated.

Yes you can, you can mount them anyway you want.

I run 10's in my s-10 in the rear, Unless you have a rad body drop , they wont poke through the top bed rails.. If you do,, you can also set up the mounts for the cylinders in front of the axle, and drop them down a bit, you want the cylinders to tip forward and side to side with this setup , the cylinders have to be mounted on a slightly forward facing angle, when its dropped so when you lock it up , the rearend will still tip up and nothing will bind, Id use powerballs on that setup too. p/s on a canti setup you probably would break your 4 link before you over strain the cylinder

see that's the catch i'm hoping when everything is all said and done to have it laying door on 20's. that's true i never thought about how much force would be placed on the 4 link..

Re: is it possible??

poking above the bed rails dpends on how much spring you are running on the rear coil overs, and how much suspension drop you want. With a short coil there is morecyl sticking out above the spring.

Re: is it possible??

look up AREA53 on myspace. they did a ford ranger with the cylinders going down through the frame onto the lower link bars... then the spring is leaned against the notch with the top cyl mount..

also, hydroholics has a mazda, i think they are Art of Noize, the cylinders are ran behind axle, and upside down, so they dont protrude into the bed floor at all...
