I shed a tear yesterday

I wasn't quite sure if this should be in the wrecked forum or this one, but I thought that in this part of the forum you guys would appreciate this story more. So, a little history. Years back I had a 1990 Isuzu p'up that I put a f,b,ss set up on. It had two chrome Reds pumps, 8" cylinders in front and 10" in the back, with three batteries, a camper shell w/ walk-thru, and 15" prerunner chrome wheels (this is pre 17" and up wheel days for all you young folk ) I loved it but I hadn't put coils on it yet so it was a bit of a rough ride (again pre-accumulator days). I went into this I need a fast car stage, so I bought a '93 turbo Talon as my daily driver. The Super Squirrel kinda got put on the back burner while I put more money into the car. One day a kid came up to me asking to buy my truck, just kidding I said alright..$5000. Thinking no way he would give that for a '90 p'up with over 100,000 miles in primer and a half way done interior. Sure enough he said ok. Well, needing cash at the time I sold it to him. He seemed like a nice enough kid that would take care of a truck that I had put so much time and sweat into. Boy was I wrong. On the way home from work last night I just happened to look over at a salvage yard and what did I see? My baby beat to crap. I pulled over to get a closer look. All the hydro set up was ripped out, the front end was missing, half of the interior that I had covered in a nice cobalt blue tweed was ripped out and various interior pieces were rattle can painted Kawasaki Green. I wanted to puke. That truck was 75% done when I sold it to him. Don't worry I've already ran my head into a wall for ever selling it to such an unworthy person. Hell, for even getting rid of it at all. So, last night I shed a tear for my first mini and had a beer. R.I.P. Super Squirrel, you will be missed. I'll try to find some pics when I get home tonight and post them tommorow.

Hey cactus I saw you thread on your notch yesterday. Are you running air shocks? How close were you to the frame w/o the notch?

It would take more than 5K if you want mine. Double that and we'll talk...

But if you needed it then and you took it, you did what you had to do. I respect your decision. it can be hard knowing what happens to a vehicle that was once your pride and joy. if you are in a much better financial situation. then buy it from the yard and REBUILD IT. build t the way you wish you could have back then.

Re: I shed a tear yesterday

Thanks guys, that was old school mini. Tuckin the 195/50/15 BFGs lol.
Hey Lee337, are you running a 4 link? I like the idea of running your powerballs on the lower link, but I couldn't see if it was a three or four link.
I plan on trying to buy back that truck from the salvage yard. If I can ever gt them to answer the damn phone. You have to call ahead so that they can meet you there.

Re: I shed a tear yesterday

Man that sux. Since I can't have my truck back I've been thinking about finding an old Chevy Luv to bag. I love the old school minis. I had an '83 Nissan that I bought for $250 a while back. My friend and I chopped the top of it one day before going to the lake. lol The day I got it I traded a guy a set of 8ga earrings for a set of 2001 Nissan alloy wheels, and we threw some 4" blocks on it, pulled a leaf and cranked the shit out of the t bars. I eventually welded in a roll bar and welded up where we chopped th eroof off. Man, that was a great lake truck.
