Re: droz messy?

They can be very messy if installed wrong....I have juice on my 99 and have not had any real messes......after a while the seals in the cylinders become weak and fluid can leak from that, but you can buy new seal kits......I have heard horror stories of those who blow a hydro line and fluid goes everywhere.....just take care of and maintain your system and you should not have to worry about it.

me too, R&O Hydraulic fluid works too, but never mix the too, and no matter what the fools say, never use transmission fluid! it will eat your seals.

I never understood why people used tranny fluid, ive been told that before too, it just dosent really make any sence.

Oh yea and back to the messyness factor, i have a few friends that had messy juice setups, but will a little maintanince and quality parts it dosent have to be messy. I just got my whole hydraulic system plumed the other day and shot some fluid threw the lines, at first yes i did have a few leaks, all i had to do was tighten the fittings ware the leaks were, and magically they dissappear. Now i have left it lifted for a day and a half now why i am workin on it, and not a drop has come out, i even have paper lineing my garage floor so that i can tell if i have even the slightest leak, it seems to be all set, but im sure i will have some small things to take care of after i put a few miles in the setup.

peace

Re: droz messy?

I have a clean setup, seals still good, using 5w30 detergent free motor oil. Let me just put it like this when a line blows it goes everywhere, want an idea? Take a quart of motor oil and just dump it in your bed Upside is you perform regular maintenance and you shouldn't have to worry about it, check your seals, fittings, lines, etc on a regular basis for cracks and wear, etc and it shouldn't be an issue.

lol ya I had the happen once, just had the trunk of my car all done up, new panels and materials made, then a line gave out on the right rear cylinder, popped the truck, oil every were! but if you teflon tape all fittings (besides your hose fittings) have em nice and tight, you shouldnt have to worry about leaks

it really depends, the only times I have seen seals blow out and need to be replaced is when someone was hopping, but when you hop, shit always breaks. Type of maintenance's:
Charge Batteries
Check oil levels about once a month
from time to time check for leaky fittings and lines
not required, but I always suggest replacing solenoids once a year to prevent them from going to hell, because they always go out.

because it isnt as thick as motor oils, and doesnt get thicker when its cold like motor oil does. And in return would perform better, compare the speed of hydraulics at 10 degrees and 80 degrees, always faster when its hot out because the oil isnt thick when warm.

My system is as tight as a Nuns .......Well you get the idea.
A little quality goes a long way. Besides bustin a fitting once, I have never had a major leak. It is all in the install. Do it right the first time.
