Muscle mig with tig adapter

Im currently using a lincoln 140 mig for all my projects but have been looking into getting another welder to keep at work and also wanted to start doing some tig welding, so my snapon guy talked me into buying a used muscle mig 140 and hes throwing in the tig torch adapter, another gas tank and their new welding helmet. anyone have any experience with the muscle migs especially with the tig adapter? anything I should look for specific to this welder since the mig is used (tig adapter will be new.) and anyone recommend anything else for this? any tips appriciated.

Re: Muscle mig with tig adapter

it probably wont be a very good tig unit. Mig welders use different power sources than tig welders.. A mig uses a constant voltage power source.. A tig uses a constant current power source. I am going to guess since its a mig, that it has a CV power source. If thats teh case, you wont get a very stable arc with the tig setup. I mean you could weld with it.. its just really not going to give you the best results.. switch over to a syncrowave after your done on that thing, And you will know what i mean.

Re: Muscle mig with tig adapter

I just recently bought a used MM140sl welder and love it. Everything seems built very heavy duty. I don't have the tig atachments but as far as the welder goes I am very happy.
