MIG sticking

okay, so i was using my friend's mig this past weekend and it was doing fine untill the wire stopped feeding through. i checked the spool, and i had plenty of wire, so i moved onto the handle itself. the nossle and tip were fine, but i changed them out just to make sure that they weren't the problem. after undoing the hose at the machine, pulling the wire back out, and letting the machine feed a new wire through, it got all the way through until about a half an inch past the nossle and will not feed through anymore. the feeder mechanisim just spins and no wire comes out. i have no idea what could be wrong with it, can anybody help me figure out what's wrong?

Re: MIG sticking

I'd say either the drive wheel tension is too loose, or the liner is dirty or needs to be replaced.

Also, check the wire size compared to the size on the drive wheel. Verify they are the same.

Re: MIG sticking

Sounds stupid, but a buddy of mine had a Lincoln bottom of the line welder, and his wouldn't feed wire if the cord was looped too tightly... His had to be almost STRAIGHT to get it to work! Good luck man.

Re: MIG sticking

the liner comes out by taking the tip of the gun apart, theres most likely a kink in it.
