Re: custom shifters

i'll post mine tommorow maybe...

nothing special..just an old indy hurst shifter, with a nut welded to the bottom, that threads on to the stock shifter assembly, i like the long throws, that the stock has, as opposed to the short throws of the hurst's made for our trucks, and it just has a black knob on top, and a suede shift boot to match the other suede in the truck..

Re: custom shifters

heres mine finally...nothing all that special..like i said, just picked up an hurst indy 3 speed truck shifter assembly at a swap meet, i think i talked him down to like 15 bucks, welded a nut onto the bottom of the shifter, and it threads onto the shaft that the stock shifter does, i like the looks of a hurst, but don't care for the actual short throws, in the full assemblies made for the s10...so its not bad for being out under 20 bucks, including the price of the nut..and i had my mom stitch up a suede shift boot, to match my door panels..

Re: custom shifters

i found a long chrome shifter out of a 99-06 regency conversion fullsize. i had to cut the shifter down and weld a bolt on it. its the same circumfrance on bottum so the stock boot looks made for it. i'm drilling a #6 pool ball for a knob cuz my truck is dark green. i'll post pics when i'm done.

like i said, i had to take the shifter out of the truck and cut the threads off. then i welded a bolt on the end with the correct size threads m16-1.5. the original s-10 shift lever was m14-1.5 thread. it comes close to the steering wheel but it goes threw all the gears.

Re: custom shifters

There was a show on the Speed channel about 2 years ago that showed a bunch of guys turning their trucks into offroad vehicles specifically for the beach. One of the guys had a column shifter that consisted of a spinal cord with a small skull on the end of it. It was so cool looking, but I've never seen an aftermarket part like it. I was thinking one of those medical skeletons might make a good base for trying to make one.
