Re: Will a 2nd gen body fit on a 1st gen frame
from everything i have seen so far by comparing side by side my 91 and a buddy of mines 94 it seems that they are identical chassies i could not find a single difference between them
but i didnt really look at the cab mounting brackets or the rad support mounting locations but they are probably the same.. do you have access to a 2nd gen truck to measure the cab mounting bracket and rad support body mount locations ? good luck! |

i'm pretty sure the frames are exactly the same. might wanna go check a buddies second gen and take some measurements on cab mounts though to be sure. no that big of a deal since you are stock flooring and will be making custom ones. if you think about it, you can put any body on a custom frame

Thanks guys ya normally I would just build new mounts but since the frame is already sf Ed and painted that would be tough. I'm thinking about making a late night dealership run and taking some measurments. All my friends trucks are extended cabs so that's out.

Re: Will a 2nd gen body fit on a 1st gen frame
the frames are close but not exactly the same. In your case with a stock floored frame and for what your asking, yes the cab will fit on the body mount locations just fine, how ever.. the front core support and bumper mounts are totally different between the 1st and second gens. So basically the frame horn section that gets dropped down.. you would have to cut out and swap out that part off for the second gen ones.

Re: Will a 2nd gen body fit on a 1st gen frame
agreed, the 94 uses many 1st gen parts and has different chassis pickup points for accessories but the cab and bed mounts are the same. the front horns are different tho, but the coresupport mounts should be the same. i would swap the whole thing over to the 2nd gen unit anyway tho, it may be easier than trying to just cut the tip off.

Re: Will a 2nd gen body fit on a 1st gen frame
just build your own frame horns and you'll be good
