And here i am bitching about working under a carport on my truck, when we had two days in the teens with some ice/sleet, and before that it was in the 40s and 50s. I dont think i could get anything done if there was constant snow.

Ya can't get anything done like this. we got another 3-4" yesterday morning. According to the weather channel, we're either gonna get between 3"-30" this weekend. I'd say this is an abnormal winter for us. we usually dnt get THIS much snow.

Johnny, mother nature isn't a bitch this year.....she a cum cuzzling gutter slut and i hope she gets herpes.

Thats the plan. Maybe not as far as texas, but the plan is to move the family south in 4-5 years. Winter isn't even the main reason. it's just the last straw. NY just sucks. What my 3br 2 bath house costs up here, i can get twice as much anywhere else. I'm tired of working my ass off and having nothing to show for it.

Oh yeah....more snow is coming weds night through possibly fri morning depending on the course of the storm......YAY!!!

Come on down. Central TX is booming. New houses are <100 bucks a sq ft. Dallas to the north and Austin and San Antonio to the south. Buy sunscreen. Haha.

Texas is just too far from the rest of the family. And it gets too frickin hot down there. We've basically decided on Charleston, SC. Me and the wife can both transfer within our companies down there so it's perfect. It's not a terrible drive back to NY or to Carlisle.

yeah. It also doesn't help that Charleston is a GORGEOUS little city. And SC won't try to take my guns away like NY is trying to do.

Theres no locations in jersey that me or my wife can transfer within our jobs to. Also, we both want to move south....like "it only snows every couple of years" kinda south.

Join the club. I was ready to work on it this morning but it was 25 degrees out. And yes, we're getting somewhere between 6-12" of snow sunday night. It's so frustrating. I figured i'd be working on the floor by now.

Re: The Family Dragger

I'm an idiot. So I worked on the truck weds and couldn't figure out why the nose wouldn't line up like it did months ago before all the snow. Spent an hour loosening bolts, shifting things around and could not figure it out. I'd get one side to line up nice with the hood and the other would be off and go back and forth between the sides. Till i realized that when i lined everything up months ago.........it was fully aired up and the lip on the driver fender(that i haven't trimmed yet) wasn't touching the rim like it was weds because the truck is currently aired out on 4x4 blocks of wood.

Hopefully tomorrow after some running around i have to do, i'll have a little time to finish trimming that fender so i won't have that problem again. and then i can trim the hood alittle. and you guys can enjoy some pics of it laid out with the nose on it.

trying. things just aren't cooperating in order to give me some free time. i had some free time this morning when i got home from work but that is no longer. I might be able to attack it Sat. morning or sunday morning, but i'm not sure yet. I do know that sunday i am picking up a new driver door. The one that's on the truck doesn't latch on the striker and it's cracked in the corner of the window frame. And a guy is selling a perfect door for $100.

Re: The Family Dragger

worked a couple hours on the fenders. Got the driver one completely trimmed and the passenger one 95% trimmed. unfortunately didn't get around to the no notch tie rods that arrived yesterday. But here's some pics for ya

The passenger side seems to be alittle off tho. because this is completely layed out...but the lug is not tucking like on the driver side. i gotta look into that, i'm hoping it's just cause the 2x6 the truck is sitting on didn't compensate enough for the dip in my driveway.

And as you can see, the hood closes on that passenger side with no trimming....which definitely means something is not right.

It kinda looks like the fender on the passenger side is a little high. I had aligning the front end. Ill do it and think "thats good enough" and a few weeks later realize it looks like shit and start pulling stuff back apart.

But if you didnt point it out, i would have never noticed, and it looks bad ass

thanks, glad ya like it!!!

what part looks high? cause i'm looking at the body line in the middle of the fender and that's lined up with the one on the door. i'm sure it's something stupid. i'll throw a jack under the tire and see if it'll go up any further. if it does, problem solved...if not...idk.

Retro, that pic was taken with the hood spring sitting on the rad support. So the hood wasn't completely flush. When it's closed the fender/hood gap is perfect on both sides.

Id check the rad support mounts, make sure the rubbers the same thickness, saggyness, dents, in looks like your passenger side has a case of the forest whitakers

Doors were partially open. Door gaps are perfect on both sides.

Aaron, the rad supports are brand new energy suspension bushings. No sagging there.

Re: The Family Dragger

if the doors were open some, that is probably what i was seeing at the fender/door gap.

get a measurement on the boards under the tires. You can barely go buy two boards that are the same thickness brand new, let alone old ones ending up the same.

I was taking the fenders on and off so much I just left the doors open a crack so I could swing them out of the way faster. Then when everything was lining up, I wanted to take a pic and forgot to close the doors.

I'm actually contemplating building a quick frame table out of wood just so I know it's in a flat surface. But idk if its really worth it at this point in the build. It doesn't even have to be a table, it could just be a platform for the driver side and one for the passenger side 2-4" off the ground. Really wishing my driveway was nice flat concrete right now. Hate asphalt and its saggy ways!!!!

Thanks for all the feed back guys

I did pick up a new driver door today for $75. The one on the cab is cracked in the corner of what i would guess to be the b pillar and the door latch isn't working. Which leads to my next question, how do I swap the key lock from the original door to the new door? I've never done that before.

Re: The Family Dragger

Just changed my handles out.

Disconnect rods from handle. Little plastic connectors unclip from rod and spin to loosen rod.

There are 2 bolts that hold door handle onto door. Extension and ratchet. Pull this little plastic cap off to access one.

Pull handle out and key lock mech has a small metal clip you can depress to remove cylinder from handle.

Repeat backwards.

Re: The Family Dragger

i was also thinking that maybe it's the camber doing it also. Maybe not in these pictures, but standing infront of the truck, it's pretty obvious that the driver tire is cambered in more than the passenger tire. could that be the 1/2" difference between the two tires??????
