Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
i meant since the mounts are sitll bolted to the cab you can then cut them off and tack them back on lower after the cab drops down flat.

Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
that's kind of the idea i had, but the only thing trippin me up is how do you make sure the cab falls straight down. if you cut 3 of 4 mounts(std. cab) isn't the cab gonna start to fall or lean to one corner? i guess you could also put jacks under the cab to support the cab then lower it down evenly. |

Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
not if you slap some small blocks of wood under the rockers to keep it from sagging. then when they're all cut just get some friends and pick the cab up by the roof and remove the blocks to drop it

Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
no prob bro. if you do it though, don't forget to cut the bottom edges of the stock mounts so they've got 3" of clearance under them so you're not fighting them when they drop. you'll see. the stock mounts are very high and have metal coming down towards the frame under them like an upside down U shape. you have to trim a shitload off the bottom so the bottom of the mounts is flat and they'll sit pretty much on the ground when you drop them i know you've seen the stock mounts so you know what i'm talking about. but here's a couple pics stock mount, tons of metal underneath the bushing ![]() trimmed and dropped mount ![]() and here's how the rear bed/body mounts will look after you drop them and gusset everything ![]() Last edited by sadexcuse4s10 : 08-02-2008 at 06:08 PM. |

Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
if you have bottle jacks around, you can set them up at each corner and lower it down a bit at a time. i dont bother with all that tho, i take the cab off, build my mounts, then just put it back on with the floor cut out so i can fix the footboards.

Re: Stock Flooring (Openly Discuss)
yeah, it's faster IMO to just unhook the steering/wiring/brake lines and lift the cab off
